2024-10-03
EZmix 3.1.0 is now available to download using the Product Manager or from the ‘My Products’ area in your Toontrack account. Please note that version 3.1.0 is required for the support of EZmix packs released from this point forward (Q4 2024).
CHANGES
General
- An Undo system has been added.
- Keyboard shortcuts have been added.
- EZmix 3 can now be used in a fully functional trial mode for 10 days.
- It is now possible to copy/paste a State between different EZmix 3 instances in a DAW.
- 125% scale should look sharper now (on “low-resolution” screens).
- The performance of AI Amp Capture presets on stereo channels should be a bit better now.
- “Show Tuner” has been added to the View menu.
- “Next Preset” and “Previous Preset” in the Edit menu have been renamed.
Quick Start
- Orchestral templates have been added.
- Some templates have been renamed, for example “Auto-Mastering” to “AI-Assisted.”
- When a template is loaded and the window is so small that the Preset List is in its own tab, the Preset List tab gets selected now instead of the Similarity Map tab.
- Loading a template no longer makes the Preset List be sorted by Similarity.
Rack
- New background images have been added for metal kit parts (snare, kick, etc.).
Effect Controls
- “Analyze Track” audio capturing will now pause less because of silent input – a longer period of not loud enough input is required for the capturing to pause.
- “Clear Analyzed Track” has been added to the menu for the current preset. It does not change any of the current preset settings (but selecting the same preset again will most likely yield a different result, provided that it is an AI-assisted preset).
- “Save as User Preset” and “Rename” now open a dialog where the user preset can be named.
- “Delete” for a user preset now opens a confirmation dialog.
Preset List
- The preset list is now accessible to screen readers.
Filters
- Selectable rows are now always sorted above unselectable/disabled rows in the filter columns.
- Selected filter rows are now orange instead of gray.
- The filter columns are now accessible to screen readers.
Similarity Map
- The preset points are generally sharper now, especially when you zoom in.
- If a filter is active and less than 250 presets are selectable, those preset points are larger now.
- “Reset Zoom And Orientation” has been added to the View menu.
Settings
- A “Keyboard Shortcuts” tab has been added.
- The Settings dialog can now be closed with Esc.
Standalone
- At startup, a dialog will appear if there is no input or output device.
BUG FIXES
General
- In some hosts, changing a track with EZmix 3 from mono to stereo did not work well – it could cause a very loud sound in one channel.
- Having a captured/analyzed track for AI-Assisted presets and then changing the sample rate could yield bad results when other AI-Assisted presets were selected afterwards.
- AI Amp Capture presets could sometimes produce an unintended bitcrushed sound at buffer sizes 64 and lower (and mainly with sample rate 44.1 kHz).
- AI Amp Capture presets could potentially produce unwanted click sounds – if you played something very loud, paused and then played something much more silent.
- Changing from one AI Amp Capture preset to another could potentially cause a crash.
- Modal dialogs should no longer prevent interaction in other EZmix 3 instances in a DAW.
- Various accessibility fixes have been made for improved screen reader support (but it is a work in progress).
Effect Controls
- Canceling “Reanalyze Audio” should now keep the previous state of the preset.
- Alt-click (Mac) / Ctrl-click (PC) on the “Out” value did not reset it to the preset’s default but always to 0.
- “In” and “Mix” are no longer possible to reset to default when their locks are on.
- The Gain Reduction peak value should be more accurate now and not miss any peaks.
Filters
- If a preset pack was marked as excluded, selecting another pack for inclusion did not work as expected.
- The “clear all filters” button is now gray instead of orange when no filter is active but there are inactive ones (i.e., when there are only gray filter chips, not counting “Favorites” and “User Presets”).
Similarity Map
- Zooming in much when using a large GUI scale could cause a crash on Mac.
2024-09-02
EZmix 3.0.1 is now available to download using the Product Manager or from the ‘My Products’ area in your Toontrack account. Please note that version 3.0.1 is required for the support of EZmix packs released from this point forward (Q3 2024).
CHANGES
General
- Loading a template in Quick Start will make every added preset slot to get the same initial filters, as determined by the template. The three last recently used preset pack filters will also be added to new slots.
- The “Do you want to save” dialog will now be shown if any changes were made – even in a new/unsaved project – when Quit, New, Open and similar operations are selected.
- Mouse wheel step sizes have been changed for input/output sliders and preset controls (though this does not affect “smooth mouse wheels,” such as trackpads). If Shift is pressed, the step/change will be smaller.
Rack
- Clearing a preset slot now also clears all filters (as well as deselecting the preset).
- If the user closes a “bypass dialog” (shown in a bypassed slot), it will not be shown again in that slot (unless the slot is powered on and off again).
Filters
- The Type tag Amplifier was renamed to Amplifier/Rig (to differentiate it from the Amplifier effect).
- The Instrument tags Bass, Brass, Drums, Percussion, Strings and Woodwind were renamed to Bass Electric, Brass Generic, Drum Kit, Percussion Generic, Strings Generic and Woodwind Generic, respectively, so that they no longer have the same names as their corresponding Instrument Group tags.
Similarity Map
- The text “Amps and Cabs” has been changed to “Amps and Distortion.”
- Improved graphics for selected and hovered dots.
Preset List
- The “Included Effects” popup (available if you enable the info icon in the “Show in List” menu) now groups the specific effects by their effect types.
- There is now a context menu for presets in the preset list.
Effect Controls
- Preset control tooltips now also contain the current value, so you don’t need to click on the control to see the value.
- Added a menu command “Filter by Tags from Preset” to current preset.
- The Gain Reduction value is now reset when a different preset is loaded and the value is individual for each slot.
Standalone
- The tempo in the standalone can now be changed by dragging and by mouse wheel.
BUG FIXES
General
- AI Amp Capture presets would cause repeated pops/clicks in the audio if a large buffer size was used.
- Very small buffer sizes (common in FL Studio, e.g., using variables buffer sizes) could cause incorrect latency to be reported by the plug-in.
- When audio analysis finished in an AI-Assisted preset, the new parameter values were not sent to the host.
- Importing an EZmix 2 project in a DAW could potentially cause a crash.
- If audio processing is stopped by the host, all meters will now decay down to the minimum instead of freezing at the current state.
States
- Pasting an EZmix 3 State with empty preset slots did not replace any loaded presets.
- Pasting an EZmix 3 State with AI-Assisted presets could cause a crash.
Rack
- Improved navigation order in the rack for screen readers.
- Switching to a preset slot that had no preset loaded did not update the rack background image.
Filters
- Loading a project containing filter tags that belong to hidden columns will now automatically show those columns for that particular preset slot.
Similarity Map
- In the View menu, “Preset Space” was changed to “Similarity Map.”
Preset List
- When a project or was loaded, the sort order saved in the project was shown but not actually applied.
Effect Controls
- Changing a preset control so that the asterisk in front of the preset name appears or disappears should no longer cause a short GUI freeze.
- The asterisk in front of the current preset name will now also appear if In, Out or Mix values are changed from the default.
- In the standalone, the Analyze Track button was sometimes incorrectly disabled after changing presets.
- If audio audio analysis in an AI-Assisted preset was canceled, the preset controls would no longer work (would not do anything).
- Long preset control descriptions used in older EZmix packs should have more space now so that the descriptions are not truncated.
Standalone
- To prevent any audio feedback loop at first startup, the standalone will now be totally silent when the feedback warning dialog is shown, until the Audio Setup dialog is closed.
