| ADD TO CARTFeaturing unique sets of mixed, matched and layered percussive elements based on anything from classic drum machines to textures of cutting edge sound design, the Dance EZX presents a total of 15 custom drum kits designed to paint a broad brushstroke across the entire commercial range of modern electronic dance music. It was engineered by Timofey Reznikov, DJ, producer and composer from Belgium with cuts on platinum-selling albums by the likes of David Guetta, Regi and Dimitri Vegas. Setting out to capture not solely the percussive nature of all the splintered subsets of the genre, it also includes a large pool of chromatically tuned tonal instruments as well as a selection of unique sound effects tailor-made to fit the sonic identity of each kit. This makes the Dance EZX transcend way beyond being solely a percussive foundation – it makes it an all-encompassing beat machine on just as much a melodic level. To add, a dedicated library of grooves specifically designed to cater to each kit is included, making getting started on just the right idea easier than ever.
Get ready for a sonic journey that’ll take you around the entire universe of electronic dance music and back again – all within the four corners of your favorite Toontrack drum sampler.
From the smooth percussive nature of Afro house and the sun-drenched
bounce of Tropical house to the laser-piercing sting of trance and UK house
– this EZX covers both ends of the sonic extremes.
Here are the producer’s own words on each kit.
“With a mix of organic and electronic elements and a unique rhythmic language, this style has a truly stand-out sound. This kit blends acoustic percussion, an electronic kick drum, marimba and a thick synth bass. A great starting point for an Afro house beat!”
“Distorted and tuned 909 percussion, hi-hats and a short, heavy kick together with a massive bass make up this kit…which is perfect for a style in which the bass plays a rhythmical key role!”
“With its TR909-type drums, piano stabs, round and punchy kick and obvious FM synth bass, this constitutes the absolute go-to set for that iconic classic house sound.”
“A velvety kick, a harmonically rich electronic piano and a soft bass. This is the ultimate staple kit for all the mid-tempo classic house or commercial pop song bangers in the 120-126 BPM range.”
“That light and dreamy sound! A fluffy, gentle kick with a clear attack and sub contrasted by bright electronic percussion. This is a great start to any commercial dance tracks with uplifting or melancholic moods.”
“This is the workhorse kit to reach for if your track still hasn’t taken on a clear direction. With its basic kick, percussion, hi-hats and timeless FX, like white noise and vocal chops, it’s got that universal all-round quality to it.”
“This kit captures the French vinyl-era vibe. With sampled one shot drums, acoustic percussion, organ keys and a funky bass, it has all the elements to nail down that jazzy and upbeat emotion of French house.”
“Tons of classic drum machine sounds, but refueled with a modern energy. With its round FM-style bass, edgy bass drum and timeless percussion, this kit can fit many dance music directions.”
“With a thick and punchy kick drum thump, super compressed hi-hats and percussion as well as bright effects and chops, this kit is bursting with energy. Great for club tracks!”
“These four kits present the cornerstones of the popular tech house sound. Sharp kicks, edgy and electronic-sounding percussion, white noise effects, vocal drones, plucky bass and classic supersaw-like leads.”
“To capture that always current high-energy style of trance, this entire set is dialed in to have a gritty overall tone and a super heavy mid-frequency kick to really cut through. The bright electronic percussion and supersaw-like lead help push it even more.”
“Bright hats and percussion, a short and laid-back kick, percussive effects soaked in reverbs, a popping bass and a nice, round lead – and bam, you’ve got that famous tropical, happy feel. Great set for a radio-friendly production!”
Working out of his studio in Spain, Timofey Reznikov is an experienced DJ, producer, composer, arranger and sound designer from Belgium with cuts on platinum-selling albums by the likes of David Guetta, Regi and Dimitri Vegas. Known for his cutting edge productions, remixing skills and by constantly churning out bangers to dance floors around the world, Timofey has become a name to be reckoned with on the international EDM scene.
Since starting out as a touring DJ in 2010, you’ve worked with the likes of Dimitri Vegas, Gucci Mane and David Guetta. Walk us through your professional career to where you are today.
In 2005, I finished my studies of electro acoustic composition at a Belgian conservatory. Seeing as I had lots of experience in sound design with software and with real synthesisers, some DJs and people around the globe started to ask me to help out with their productions and to do remixes etc. That way I met Dimitri Vegas and many more people from the industry. In 2016 during a trip to Los Angeles I met David Guetta, by a very lucky coincidence. He was busy working on his album “7.” He invited me to join his writing camp and to try working on some music together. So I participated on lots of tracks from this album. Since then, we’ve continued working together. This is a challenging music production experience. It’s demanding – you have to be versatile, flexible, fast and professional.
Looking back on your musical journey so far, what are some of your favorite moments?
I remember an amazing writing camp in Ibiza in 2018 with David Guetta and many other great super talented musicians. Everyone was like a movie superhero, each with their own super-power. One is an amazing writer who can make a song in seconds like it was already on paper while the other is a melody genius who can create any emotion on demand with a simple guitar. Being in this company I discovered that I’m one of them. I have my superpower too! I think that is one of the most memorable moments in my music career.
For someone who’s new to electronic music production and remixing and would like to learn, what’s your creative process like?
To me, there are only two ways to go about this. The first is playing around with your synths, trying some melodies and waiting until you get inspired to finish the idea. The second is to know what you want to do and where you want the track to be at the end. The ladder is my favorite workflow. I’m always trying to analyze all elements that I want to use in my production, have all my tools ready to work for me and then get going. That way, you keep your creative flow. My tip is to know your tools and what you want to do – then nothing can stop you.
What was the overall idea behind the collection of kits in the Dance EZX?
Creating a beat is always sort of a puzzle. You have find the parts and make them fit together to paint the complete picture. Getting all of this basic work done is what I did for this EZX. To get there, I balanced and tweaked every sample to fit the bigger picture of each kit. I think for those just starting out, it can be very inspirational to have quality sounds and preset kits ready to go whenever. For experienced producers who want to save some time, it’s quick to just grab one of the sets and never leave the creative flow.
