    Hi Mattais

thanks very much for taking the time to have a look at the orig mix in protools, thats very nice of you.

I checked my routing, amb is routed to 1/2 ….

Its just that the drums in that song, sound a lot more…well…finished sounding than that of the drums in C&V even though I am using the same preset.

There is a lot more clarity …

I would have expected, seeing the name of the demo, in the presets list, they would be the same…I had assumed all the processing was done in the plug in, and didnt consider that the drums may have had external processing outside of the plug in….

    cheers

I read a previous thread where someone noted something similar about the “Camco & Craviotto jam” on the C&V demo player (i.e. that they couldn’t get ‘that sound’ with the effects in Superior Drummer 2). The answer there was that the mix for that demo was done with the original C&V using outboard gear – perhaps this is the same situation?

    Jeremy.

Makes sense….I remembered something about it as well, but couldnt find the post..

    thanks very much

    Thanks for that Wiz.

Now that I have watched that I realise that I have actually done that ( numerous times in frustration ) and it doesn’t work for me.
It puts a conga/bongo sound on my hat edge and doesn’t allocate ANY sounds to my main 2 cymbals at all.

The Kick, all toms and the snare are fine though.

THAT’S why I started then doing all the individual articulations.

Does that happen, even with the Yamaha set at its factory settings?

Have you tried simply, using the yamah ekit, at its factory settings, and then just selecting the EDRUMS preset under MAPPING ..and then trying the PEDAL CORRECTION CURVES.

I have the cheapest Yamaha Kit, the DTXplorer. If I do just what I described above, all the mapping, and functionality is there.

set up a drum map in Cubase, and you should be fine and dandy…I use Sonar and the dtxplorer, so cant help you with the exacts on how to do it….but basically, you just remap the couple of notes that dont line up…..do a search on the cubase forums, I bet someone probably has a map already made up…

cheers and good luck with it..

I use  Dtxplorer kit…I have a three zone snare as well as a two zone cymbal..and both work perfectly with s2.0

Also, I will add , S2.1 (the update) works just fantastic with the DTXplorer, and doesnt even require and mapping and setting changes..just works out of the box…fantastic.

    cheers

It only has mono pads for all the drums..

I have ordered a 3 zone snare and 3 zone cymbal pad…when they come, I can check out the cymbal choking…

    Just wanted to pop back…

    i got the dtxplorer today…

within about 30 mins, I had it controlling ezdrummer, with maps made for pop rock, nashville, and vintage and cocktail…

    works like a charm…

the only things that didnt map straight away, was the kick and snare….but using drum maps in sonar …no biggie….

Its also really easy to compensate for velocity differences within the drum map in sonar too….

all in all, nice kit, works great with Ezdrummer…

now , if only i could play drums…8)

    roll on superior 2

    Thanks for the answers…

I have ordered the DTxplorer…and as I use Sonar, I will (i hope) just create a drum map within sonar…and should be good to go…
    fingers crossed..
