Not trying to advertise a competing product on the TT board but it’s doubtful Platinum Samples would sell Evil Drums to TT since it is alive and well and still selling copies for other engines (including their own as soon as it gets ported)

    Officially announced today!

Oh well, got so discouraged I switched to BFD. Would it have killed TT to let the consumers know we were not waiting in vain???

Anyhow, I’m very happy with my new sounds so no regrets here

Amen. Seriously though, if they add those features to Superior Drummer, I’ll still keep EZd2 and all my EZX for the midi.

Superior Drummer and SDX packs have been on sale since November 1st and will continue to be on sale throughout January. Toontrack always has a holiday sale, but that’s 3 solid months specifically for the Superior line. Could this be a sign that SD3 is coming out???

You should buy EZd2 if you need these features, Toontrack have not released anything indicating SD will be updated to version 3 soon, it could still be a little while.
You can always buy EZd2 used as a license transfer from Ebay or on KVR audio forum. And you can transfer the license to someone else if TT upgrade to SD3 in the near future.

There are benefits to having both, EZD2 is lighter on resources, so it’s good for tracking at a very low latency.

If you take the time to mix superior 2 drums or apply a producer preset, they will sound better in every perceivable way over ez drummer 2. With superior you have 24 bit sounds, more kit pieces available, more different types of hits on each piece, more velocity layers for each hit. With Superior it becomes hard to tell the drums are not real… And i say this as an owner of superior 2 with every sdx and ezdrummer 2 having owned almost all ezx at some point. I find the middle ground in using ezd2 to mold the drum parts and using sd2 for the actual sounds, until sd2 is updated…

I would rather not have both installed in order to keep my midi database clean. If I use song creator or tap 2 find within ezd2 I assume those grooves would always show up twice in my search results?

The stand alone midi pack will appear as an uninstalled product though. There are some products such as independent SDX where the midi pack will sound odd with other drums because it will try to trigger a tambourine which is mapped to trigger a crash on most other kits, in this instance, I would rather have the stand alone midi pack installed for universal compatibility.

I agree with OP. I’ve already mentioned something similar. The flagship product should have these features. It’s not even a question of expense, as I’d pay for the update. It’s inconvenient to have to use EZd for the composition / tracking stage and switch to SD for the final sound, and even more so when you consider the EZ kits have les pieces and less dynamics, it means your parts will never sound the same when you switch to SD 2.0 and you still end up making final adjustments in your DAWs piano roll. Those of us who have reasonably powered pcs can use SD through the compositional and tracking stages at extremely low latency and mix as we go. Saves a whole lot of time. but you STILL want those compositional features and midi editing features from EZd. I have even toyed with the idea of ditching SD 2.0 and using only EZd2 for the sake of convenience but there is a very noticeable gap in realism between the 2. Superior IS superior and not just by a slim margin.

I have faith that TT will make us SD users happy

I’m pretty much exclusively using Toontrack products for my productions now, S2.0 for my drum sounds and EZMix for mastering as well as guitar, bass and vocal processing. Everything sounds crisp and glued together. It’s an amazing product.
I only keep Amplitube around for wah wah and whammy effects. That said, I’m just waiting for TT to release the pedal pack so I can put Amplitube on “the bay” 🙂

I think it would have been on sale had they released a new SDX pack. The pattern I’ve noticed is that the last pack to be released is not included in the sale…

Seriously, so much potential for the Rock Warehouse but only a few presets that come with it. Please get Bob Ezrin!

This is actually a great idea. It would also be great if there were some some wahs controllable with an expression pedal
