More like a disco mainstay (i.e. Chic), but that doesn’t make it any less warranted I guess.

I believe Bandmate is the only new feature not already in Superior Drummer 3. Probably it will be integrated into Superior Drummer 4, however long that takes, but they’re very unlikely to answer your question since they don’t discuss upcoming releases until they’re announced.

Bandmate doesn’t exist in Superior Drummer 3, so you pretty much answered your own question. Other than that, maybe you’ll want the EZdrummer 3 sound library, but that seems to be it.

True, EZkeys needs an update badly. Incorporating the MIDI search functions from the other Toontrack products would be really helpful.

I assume Toontrack know that this would be a big seller, but Abbey Road may have an exclusive contract with another developer, whose product is frankly lacking compared to what Toontrack does. Still, a similar size room with the right recording equipment and the right drums and cymbals could get really close.

You’re totally right. It’s because Toontrack decided to sample (for a 5 strings bass) only around 39 frets instead of 105 to get all the possible variation in the sound. 🙁

Yeah, this bothers me. I haven’t bought any EBX expansions so far because of this (and the fact that they haven’t sampled a vintage bass with flatwounds), but a more deeply sampled bass from Toontrack would be an instant buy for me.

I would buy both of these immediately.

Real drums don’t have a definite pitch. That’s why they are referred to as unpitched or non-pitched percussion. You can get a sense of intervals between toms based on the lowest pitch (or rather frequency range because it’s not a clear single pitch), but the head and the shell still produce inharmonic frequencies. In other words, it is impossible for acoustic drums to be completely in tune with themselves, which is why drummers almost never try to tune drums to the song, even in the studio. At most, the tuning might be changed if there are frequencies that are particularly clashing.

It’s not uncommon for old drum samples to be tuned to a song in certain genres of music, but these are basically synths that are much less complex than acoustic drums. If an acoustic drum sample is forced to be entirely in tune, it will no longer sound like an acoustic drum. If a synthetic sound is what you’re going for, I can’t really see why you’d be interested in using Toontrack, since their forte is largely producing realistic drum samples (perhaps with some synthetic augmentation).

    Hi threre,

    1. I’ve got a lot of EZX Expansions. A lot of Kicks and Snares i have in my expansions are again mentionned / included in the new expansion “Kicks and Snares”. What could be the reason (s) making me buy this new extension ?

    2. In the “Kicks and Snares” product sheet, what does it mean : ? “301”

Thanks in advance for your answers,

    PAT (BAT) !O!

301 is where they were recorded:

In fact, I made this suggestion in a new thread before seeing this one.
