Very well said. An accomplished keyboard player can make virtual guitars like Native Instruments sound superb – as they do on the demos! But I’m a hunt and peck songwriter. Fiddling around with MIDI is laborious and nowhere close to the experience of EZDrums and EZBass, which I love with a passion. I guess guitar is hard being polyphonic with so many options, but Toontrack has nailed drums, bass, and keys. Why not guitars? I think there is a solid gap in the market for this. UJAM has a decent approach with plenty of strumming options, but again depends on the keyboard and IMO doesn’t sound that great, even with DI and a separate amp. Toontrack EZGuitar could be a game changer.

Yes! Please, Toontrack – give the guitar the Toontrack touch it deserves. We’re starving out here! Native Instruments (Electric Sunburst, Vintage, Shreddage) is my current go to, but requires Kontakt and bizarrely does not allow for expansion packs. I’m running out of patterns, and Ample is kludgy. UJam has a lot of options but sounds terrible. Starting with EZKeys, I now solely use EZDrummer (and SD3) and EZBass – which are incredible. A DAW within a DAW. There’s no way I could realise what I want to hear without Toontrack. I am very grateful, and if you need a tester for EZGuitar (if it happens) – count me 100% IN!

Good question, particularly why Toontrack has introduced new features in ED3 but not updated SD. Perhaps cynically, it makes me wonder if Toontrack are forcing us to buy both products, despite the premium price for SD. I’m a songwriter, too and can see a lot of benefit in Bandmate although I’ve only just heard about it. So, now writing a song I have to choose between ED3 and SD tracks. ED3 has Bandmate but not SD. SD sounds great and was superior to ED2 but now is falling behind? Poor product planning, Toontrack. I expected better. I raised this with them and got some rubbish corporate reply.
