D’you buy it from a legit seller?
According to the Toontrack FAQs, EZMix2 Lite was discontinued in May of 2014:
http://www.toontrack.com/faq/what-is-ezdrummer-lite-how-do-i-get-it/
Yes & No.
I don’t think that it’s intended to create melodies as much as it is intended to create harmonies
but that said, if you used the pre-made MIDI grooves to lay out a progression,
(rudimentary) melodies could be created by varying the chord inversions.
AFAIK, Toontrack itself no longer sells EZD1 to EZD2 upgrades
(based solely upon the pricing available on their webshop and prior announcements)
but there are still some retailers out there who have them in stock.

Here is another bit of info I’ve just uncovered…
First is a link explaining a similar problem … http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2003226/fix-corrupt-windows-installer.html
The Windows Installer issue mentioned is also part of the thread whose link I posted earlier.
The Microsoft KnowledgeBase reference to the issue is:

Secondly…I’ve attached a bit of the Command prompt screen demonstrating a deficiency in the suggested solution.
Not seeing any attachment.
searched the forum. found this thread. maybe it’ll help.

The upgrade IS the whole, full version of EZDrummer2.
When installed, it replaces & completely overwrites your EZDrummer1 installation.
In fact, in your situation, if you’re re-installing everything from scratch, you DO NOT have to re-install EZDrummer1 at all.
Your EZDrummer2 upgrade installation does not require that EZDrummer1 be installed first.
