Next on my list is the Rock EZmix. Does anyone have an informed opinion on this package?
I have the Metal Rock and Ainlay packs and for me the Rock pack is the least useful. From now on I’m not buying packs made by musicians, I’m only getting ones made by people who are first and foremost engineers, but that’s just me.
As for the S2 producer presets I’ve usually been underwhelmed with them with maybe the exception of Andy Sneaps and Slate and the first Allen Morgan pack was ok, his second pack was a waste of money IMO.

Just downloaded and installed this mix pack and pretty impressed (more than some of the other mix packs)
+1
this one is useful while the Rock pack was a disappointment. I didn’t bother with the songwriters or the allen morgan pack because the sound examples didn’t sound good, the songwriters examples had sibilant vocals and the heavy song on the morgan page sounded terrible and muddy. The Metal pack is pretty good too but this one and the Core presets are the best so far IMO.

I just picked this one up, and for lack of a better word it’s very classy. (no pun intended) I think it’s a good addition to my arsenal especially the grooves.
One thing I notice though is it’s very VERY warm sounding, at first I thought it was almost too warm sounding because when I dropped it into a song that was previously using the C&V SDX the drum mix sounded almost more dull like they needed some highs boosted for some added crispness, especially in a mix with some ARP 2600/minimoogV type synths (something like a modern ‘Who Are you’ by the Who’ is what I was going for) but a little heavier with more distorted guitars etc..
but anyway, I started something new and kinda built sounds around this ezx that complimented that warmth, and it’s a very friendly sound. these sounds remind me of that ‘band on the run’ song by McCartney. Overall I’m happy with it and it is different to C&V because you can’t just drop it in and have it sound as balanced especially if there’s heavy Tom use.. C&V is more crisp to me but I guess that’s not always what’s needed.
I’m actually starting to use ezx’s more than sdx’s because in just about every song that I used the Metal foundry in, they seemed to sound better if I dropped in the Metalheads ezx, but I know that probably comes down to my lack of skills as a mixer.
either way, I’m happy with it in a ‘summer breeze makes me feel fine’ kinda way.
keep it up!

oooooh a Mac vs PC thread! the problem isn’t windows since Windows 7 64 on a PC (that isn’t used for daily internet) is the best set up today with a reputable sound card.. it totally out performs a Mac and as a bonus it’s a lot cheaper. My $999 off the shelf Gateway computer performs right in line with some custom built machines I’ve seen that cost a lot more (according to the Cubase performance tests) I keep it off the internet and there’s only music and video programs installed, and it’s the same with my other HP’s. a $1000 PC is more powerful than a $2000 Mac.

question.
I use S2 with a few SDX’s and EZX’s, as well as midi packs etc.
other than the custom guis (electronic etc), is there any other content that I would get if I bought ezdrummer?
there are no presets when I use EZX’s in S2 so I was wondering if there were extra presets or any other extra content. The custom guis is not enough to make me want to buy EZ drummer but if there was anything else it might push me over the edge.

I’m an idiot! everything’s in sync. I was using some weird patches I guess. I’m using Cubase 5, soon 6,
it’s good to know the one feature request I had has already been implemented! I love using it while laying down vocals at the lowest latency, it’s so light on resources and sounds so great. best purchase of 2010. I also own izotope Alloy but I’ve been using it a lot less in favor of ezmix.
so that’s that, I’m looking forward to what’s next for this and superior of course.

I think there are enough Avatar packs now.

although the beats are generally very good I don’t like the songwriter format at all, and I think they are getting very stingy with the midi. I was extremely disappointed with the amount they give you.. I don’t consider it a great value, and I own all the monster midi and songwriter packs.
It’s a good thing I can actually play drums.

thanks for the info.
hopefully one day soon you’ll accept PayPal as soon as possible, it makes it easier to buy stuff without ‘others’ knowing.

I just started using cubase 64 with S2.2.2 64 and it runs ridiculously awesome running 2 fully loaded superiors.. not much help in this thread but I was inspired.
I also bought jBridge and that’s a very useful tool for running my behind the times 32bit plugs, steingberg should be embarrassed about their vstbridge.
