Hello Dennis,
you have several options to solve your problem of an overflowing hard drive:
– the iMac could be updated with a bigger SSD (the MB Pro maybe too… I am not sure)
– you can use an external SSD drive for saving the sound libraries. With USB 3, Thunderbold or USB-C this is slightly slower than an internal SSD, but still much faster than a conventional hard drive (which some people still use with SD3)
– the core library is split in 5 chunks of ~40 GB each. You can save space by using only the first or the first two parts
– there is also an option in SD3 to set 2 paths for a library. You can save the full library on an external drive and a partial installed version on the internal drive. You can then use the full library at home and a smaller version when on the road

I am quite new and lost to this.(Probably posting this in the wrong forum section aswell) I am slowly figuring everything out but I can’t manage to find a solution to the fact that EzDrummer is blocking out all system sounds, while its being run.
I just want to run a mp3 and actually be able to hear it while using EzDrummer so I can jam to it and record Drums for my Band.
Any solutions?
If the driver of your sound device doesn’t support multi output you might switch from standalone EZDrummer to a VST host and use an VST for mp3 playback.

I may have found what I’m looking for, I selected “Edit visibility ” and busses 1-16 showed up. Would I just name the ones I need and rout each instrument to them ?
@ rrosin I believe what I would do after that is what you suggested right ?Thanks
Yes you can rename any bis after it is visible. For make a bus visible you can either edit it’s visibility manually or make it visible automatically by routing an instrument or other bus to it.

Hey guys, I am starting from scratch with a kit and want to create kick snare Toms ect.. Busses. How do I go about doing this ? I have looked at the manual and don’t see what I’m looking for ?Thanks for any help !
Click on “Output” or “Send to” of an existing bus (e.g. microphone bus) and select an unused bus.

I did verify with VirusTotal.com and indeed it confirms that the ”Sound Updater” is infected (see attached pdf).
I would not take this too serious. Only 9 of 67 antivirus tools classify this file to be infected and BitDefender is the only well-known of them. All big named tools don’t find a virus.
Also it seems this 9 matches are heuristic based (can be seen in the name containing “Generic”).
If you are still unsure you can send the file to the BitDefender producer for further inspection.

Hi, thanks for your response. I just tested my MacBook Pro connected to the TD 25 via USB [which is the method I normally use] and went into the sound settings within the settings application within the MacBook. The TD 25 does not show up at all as an option to select for either input or output… it just shows the normal system option. I know when I have other devices what you’re referring to as they will show up as a connected device to use for input-output. I have tested this with of the driver options within the TD 25 itself, the first being the vendor or Roland driver and the second being the generic driver and neither show up.
Thanks,
Derek
Did you install the driver from the Roland support site? The TD25 has audio in and out via USB. MIDI may work with the generic MIDI driver, but USB audio needs the Roland driver.

Hello,I just tried to update with ProductManager the sound libraries for several SDX libs already installed on my PC but BitDefender identified the ”Sound Updater.exe” as infected with Gen.VariantJohnnie.74110 trojan virius. Any idea if it is a false positive or if it is a real virus issue?
Thanks!
You can try to upload to https://www.virustotal.com to check with several antivirus solutions. Maybe it’s a problem of BitDefender only.

btw the td30 also comes with a nifty ASIO driver with some settings to play with. just hit the ASIO button under audio device in SD3.
I just did some tests with the Roland ASIO drivers and compared it to ASIA4ALL using WASAPI. With the Roland ASIO drivers the latency increases by 6 ms. I wouldn’t call this “nifty”.

Hi Reiner,
I’ll give it a shot. Is the one you’re using easy to install and use? I’m not too good with this stuff which is why I stick to standalone software if I can. Anything I need to know before installing it? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
Josh
It’s easy to use. You don’t need to install something, just unpack and start. Then choose “New plugin” ans select the SD3 plugin. Next set MIDI and audio devices and you’re done.

I wonder why that would be the problem? Perhaps the folks at Toontrack can help here? Is this an issue with SD3 or is it a driver/computer issue?
My advice is to test with a VST host. If the problem still exists, it is most likely a driver issue. If the problem is gone, you can hardly assign it to anyone specific, neither SD3 nor driver or computer.

Do you have to buy an original program to the Toontrack Solo ?
Toontrack Solo (or any other VST host) was required for EZDrummer 1. EZDrummer 2 can work standalone.

Hi there…
please upload your preset, I’d like to hear it on my own machine.
Thanks, Reiner
Hi Josh,
are you using the standalone version of SD3? I had some issues with ASIO and SD3 too (not with a Focusrite interface, but with the Roland ASIO driver). I switched from standalone SD3 to using the VST and all trouble was gone.
I use this Host program: http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm
