Yes, you can use older EZX in SD3 …
… and with a workaround you even can pimp older kits with the core-library room-features, that are not available in EZD2 …
… SD3 has 7 kits and if you dont want to double your samples:
• Vintage Rock EZX < Custom & Vintage SDX
• Pop/Rock EZX < NY Avatar (library that ships with S2)
• Jazz EZX < Roots SDX
• Nashville EZX < Music City SDX
• Rock Solid EZX < The Warehouse SDX
• Metalheads EZX < Metal Foundry SDX
• Jazz EZX < Jazz SDX
• EZdrummer < S2 Avatar
• Progressive EZX < Progressive Foundry SDX • Big Rock Drums EZX = No SDX Equivalent
• Seventies Rock EZX = No SDX Equivalent

Thanked by: Wolfgang… sounds not that extraordinary … but there are audio demos of all drums – you can compare … i guess, it depends on how close you want to come …
Ayotte Kit (SD3): https://r4t3n2z9.ssl.hwcdn.net/mp3/Ayotte_Classic_-_Sticks.mp3
Roots SDX: https://r4t3n2z9.ssl.hwcdn.net/mp3/3.SonicPalette-Sticks-Thiago.mp3
… i guess so, but for me the SSD was too expensive … actually you can get 250GB SSD under 30€ …
… i’m sure there is a README or install-informations – Toontrack is pretty extensively …
… and you really get a drums heaven 🙂

Note that this comes with no software, only sounds. A Superior Drummer 3 license is required for the core sound library to be operational.
so you need SD3 too:
… my experiences:
… if you scroll down, you can check the FEATURE COMPARISON (SD3 vs. EZD2)
… with the vocabulary of SDXs, it could be
“Jamaican Fyah SDX” or
“Kingston Culture SDX” or
“The Spirit Of Jah Music SDX” …
😀
… well, if you already have SD3, you can buy “the best jazz drum library ever” (Toontrack)

… i’m still waiting for a Sale – the Bundle is EUR249 …
