Wow thanks! You’re right about moving on, I’m pretty tired of the song after spending about a month on and off working on it.
That’s an interesting idea about keeping the verse pattern for the chorus and it’s got me trying to think how that would sound. Always good to have an outside opinion.
I do agree that the second half of the verse is probably the strong part of the song. The drums and bass kicking in lifts it a bit. In my case the bass is the low E and A string on my cheap Fender F15 acoustic guitar. It doesn’t record well, but it’s fun to play!

I think your premise is a good idea and believe the initial inspiration/emotion that starts a song is usually the best. I sometimes find that if recording is put off for too long, it’s hard to get back into the original groove/excitement. However for me it’s just not having the skills to set up a mic and play and sing the full song, I make too many mistakes. Therefore I end up having to do a lot of punch-ins for both vocals and guitar.
My ideal situation would be to write a song and then hand it over to someone with more skills to take it from there.

All well done, I like “sharing your love” the best of the three.

Wish I could write and finish a song in 24 hours. The song reminds me a bit of the theme for the tv show “rita” (denmark). Good harmony vocals, I think you could have reduced the length a bit, but that’s just me.
    Good job!

Impressive indeed!! I can’t get through a verse without screwing something up for both guitar and vocals.

I’ve asked a similar question to yours quite awhile back and zero replies. It seems Superior Drummer is “superior” no more….

I think I found out what was going on. My host tempo is 100 BPM. Most of the files I was using in the original midi files were pretty close to that tempo and I never noticed much of a difference. The Pop/Rock midi file I liked and wanted was 57 BPM. So when I hit replace it brought that file up to 100 BPM and I found it too fast and preferred the original tempo.
So, I took off “follow host”, but it still brings it up to 100 BPM.
Which leaves me with the question “how do I keep it at the original tempo”?

    Thanks for all your help!!

    Hi John and Henrik,
I do have the “follow host” enabled. I’m finishing up four 12 hour day shifts today and I’m off tomorrow. I will try your suggestions tomorrow and take a screenshot if it still doesn’t work.

    Thanks,

    Paul

As far as what midi is already on the song track, it is the following:
    I build 4 chords, E, F#m, A, E
I then selected them all and chose “use midi browser”.
Then I dragged either variation 1 or variation 2 down to the song track.
Everything is fine up to that point. Once I hit “replace”, that is when the tempo changes.

    Thanks for the reply John.
I’m working a 12 hour shift, I’ll try to get a screenshot tonight.

    Hi Bolarin, thanks for replying!

I don’t think the BPM window changes, but then again I don’t know where that is. My host BPM doesn’t change, but the tempo change happens right inside EZkeys (before I drag it to the host). The “follow host” tab is selected.

    thanks again,

    Paul

    Hi Aaron,
You didn’t have to do that but thanks!
Yeah, the song is not suppose to be taken too seriously, just basically a timeline from high school, going through the various stages the average person goes through, ending with retirement only to be hit with a market crash (this actually happened to my girlfriend’s father and his mutual funds took a big hit). I think it’s the first time I used the guitar on the 2nd and 4th beat (for verses) and 4/4 for the chorus. I used the piano as a bass line in the verses (which I kind of liked how it turned out). I only know how to chord on the piano, but try to play around a bit with my left hand.

    Thanks again for doing this!!

    Paul
