You have access to the 7 kits unprocessed. Just load one the kits, and not a preset.
You’ll have the raw sounds to work with and shape as you wish in SD3 or your DAW or any other way you process audio.
Using 236 on a 250 SSD is usually not recommended:
“As a result of its benchmarks, Anandtech recommends that you “plan on using only about 75% of its capacity if you want a good balance between performance consistency and capacity.” In other words, set aside 25% of your drive and don’t write to it. Only use up to 75% of your drive’s free space and you should maintain ideal performance. You’ll see write performance start to slow down as you go above that mark”.
Get a bigger drive for the drums, you need the drums to react quickly.
Thanks again,
I guess I’m still not being clear.
What I’m really asking is;
Since I have ez2 already would it be worth it (I know it’s subjective) to basically buy the same vibe, in other words does the ezx offer anything beyond the kit in ez2 like from someone who’s really knowledgeable about that particular era, that justifies the extra expenditure.
I should have started with that three posts ago!
Thanks Scott,
Sorry I should have been more clear. I didn’t mean literally the same. That much info I’ve already obtained. They’re both 60s Ludwig kits.
I guess I was trolling for a little more nuance. Does one do the vintage thing better in anyone’s humble opinion.
Thanks!
Thanks Scott,
In sd3 would the mixer for the ez2 classic kit display the same as in ez 2, or in the sd3 mixer which has more options.
Thanks
And also, aren’t we in kind of effects overkill;
Effects in SD, effects in interface, effects in DAW, outboard effects. Geez
I’m going to cross grade because I feel limited in the EZ mixer and would prefer to have unprocessed sounds to work with. I won’t be using the onboard effects or dynamic processing as I have plenty of high stuff and prefer to work in the DAW (DP). I like the idea of me making the eq/limiting decisions.. I won’t be using the extra ambience channels (unless I could have run everything else through them) for cohesion sake. (Everything in the same room) Remember that concept? But yes, I will cross grade and try to make as realistic tracks as possible. Can you tell I’m ‘old school’?
Think of it as a whole new program, which it basically is, and an amazing one at that for $200!
So re eq’ing/limiting etc would be kind of overdoing it yes? Since they’re finished sounds

Exactly how I run, I have a 1TB USB3 SSD enclosure with my SD3/2 samples attached to a powered USB hub. I also have the same libraries running on a secondary spinning drive, Thunderbolt attached. That is not necessary, just insurance.
I’m not a super techie but I would think the use of hub would not be the optimal choice. Why add any further delay or latency. Plug the drive directly in IMHO.
The sound engine inside EZ (and how it’s routed) is reacting to midi being sent to it, whether from inside or from the DAW. A bass drum doesn’t care if it’s on a stereo mix bus or on a separate output, It plays either way. Check your settings and connections. It doesn’t matter if EZ is following host or not.
