    DOH! (me=dumb bass player)

    I think I had Superior for a while then got more products and just registered to this forum again without looking at my saved info. OK.. then I should re-register to this forum with my original toontrack registration email?? Or just switch it? … I guess I would rather re-register and make a clean slate.

    Why i am logged in and have registered products but cant i view that link? efing frustrating. Also,… where can I post dumb questions about the software? it seems all those are people are directed to the FAQ which is horrible. You are MAKING me read the manual when I may not have time or … just maybe I want to interact with other similar users. Efing drummers. LOL.

    Ok…can I take that back??

    I apoligize for slamming this controller. Yes, I am still learning the Akai. Now that I have adjusted the pads to my liking,.. it will be fairly easy to control Toontrack products.

    Once the Global settings are changed, (pad-sence/pad-curve/pad-thresh) and have been tweaked,.. it seems to be pretty good. Very good actually, I still may open it up and add something to the underpad but it works good for now. That, plus all the other gadgets and ability to save under numorous presets by itself it can probably save about 120 16-peice drumkits and then save that to a file on computer…and make 120 more…plus (mpd32) has sliders and knobs to control other vsti’s. Wow …I think I really need to read up on this stuff.

    I thought they had their purpose. They directed the sound, which was decent….depending on what heads you put on them. I worked as a drumtech for a band in the 80’s… they used those oil filled heads. They were very easy to setup and mic up. Sure,.. onstage (or in a basement rehearsing) if you stand in the wrong place at the wrong time one hit could blast your eardrum… but in a controlled studio it was like that at all. They really only had two volume modes…soft and EXTREME!

    I have both an old R-70 Rythm Composer and an AKAI MPD32. I am beginner with the AKAI and the knobs and features are great for this product, but the pads suck. They are very stiff and very insensitive compared to the R-70. It is night and day. I can program all day on the R-70 pounding it with varying velosity and it’s fantastic. 15 min on the Akai and I want to throw it out. I am a 20+ years bass player and have pretty strong fingers. There is a youtube video of a guy that removed the pads and modified the sensors onder the pads with electrical tape and …. from what it shows in the video, it looks like he got the machine to work the way it truly was intended. THAT SAID….I would definately go try one out at the store if possible!!

    In SD2 you can easily assign external midi pads to drums, I am not sure about EZD.

    Hmmm, then I would have one full SDX soundfile location on my external harddrive, and another “limited” one on my laptop hard drive? (correct??)

    If you guys ever start requiring a dongle I will take all my Toontrack disks outside and chop them into little pieces. Just sayin.

    Dongle=ILOK
