Obviously this is still an issue with x-drums and guys use them all the time but i guess the general ethos with superior is great drums recorded in great rooms and then using x drums to add bits here and there but if entire kits were made up of bits then you would lose the authenticity added by the rooms etc

Yes, it might be an issue sometimes, but almost everyone use x-drums and in a mix I think very few would complain or spot that different rooms where in there.

I do understand the concept Toontrack want to offer, but if many customers want individual packs I guess it won’t hurt to try some. Fxpansion and XLN Audio offers individual packs and they are very much appreciated.

Individual packs sounds like a great idea..

Here’s a SD preset thread on the vdrums forum that’s new and growing:

    Platinum Samples for the win!
    The best SDX so far.

I’m glad that new stuff is coming….I just hope this coming metal month will be over quick. I think that there’s enough metal stuff as it is for Toontrack.
December might be my month instead.

Excellent suggestion Gareth! I wholeheartedly agree!

Maybe a SDX with Dave Grohl behind the drums and Steve Albini producing? I’d buy that instantly, even though I’d get it for free…

Now that’s one of the best ideas I´ve heard in a long time! Steve Albini might not be up for the task, but I do see Grohl saying yes to it all. And I say YES YES YES.

Since this will get you in trouble you might as well tell us some more

Well, we know the Jazz SDX is coming this year. I think?

Jazz SDX? I haven’t heard anything about that. Based on the Jazz EZX?
I’m hoping for a totally newly recorded SDX above that.

    Edit:
I did a search on the toontrack forum and found information about the Jazz SDX being previewed at NAMM 2010. Was it? I couldn’t find any info, but if that’s the case I guess that would most likely be the next SDX released.
I hope it’s huuuuge with lots of velocity layers, round robin, alternate hits and articulations!

    hmmmmmmm If I only……

Come on Bill! Just say it. I won’t tell anyone
    Give me something to eat.

    Something like:
“There will be something new before the end of this year”
    “Big things to come”
    “We´re recording right now”
    Anything!

[*] I want to see a brand new SDX Extra everything being released [*]Or maybe special snare, cymbal or tom packs to spice up things. Extra studiously sampled stuff that play smooth as h***.
[*]More third party SDX’s; Platinum Samples and Sonic Reality stuff![*]More Producer presets wouldn’t hurt either.

I want it now! Talk about being spoiled…

I couldn’t agree more. More third party releases and especially from Platinum Samples.

I’ve also noticed the big difference in how Evil Drums plays on Superior Drummer compared to BFD2. The Superior Drummer engine is simply superior.

Evil Drums all the way. I also hope Toontrack and Platinum Samples could release more stuff together.

This is what your looking for. It’s the only velocitysensitive program for those drums. Works like a charm!
