On the topic of panning, are there any drummers out there that actually like the overheads etc panned as though your in front of the drums, not behind???? ewww it makes me sick when i hear that! its like watching lefty’s play drums on youtube? its like, i cant believe they still make you? At least mirror the vid or somethin ehh????
ahh lefty’s, soooooo wrong. 😛
I wouldn’t realy mess with panning the snare and kick. Traditionaly they stay central. You could mess with panning these for maybe an accent in the song, like an opening fill for effect? But that’s just me. But I suppose there are no rules, do what you think is going to work in the mix.
forgot to mention to include any S2.0 processing effects (if any) i prefer to use plugins in pro tools personally, but if you use inbuilt sonalksis effects, please include details. For audio samples please bypass any plugins/effects in your DAW that are not accessible to the everyday user using S2.0.
Cool, lets here some………..
sorry, just had to follow. I’ll repeat again i think celebrity kits would be THE FU**EN BOMB!! The steven slate nevermind kit is pretty good. i dunno, personal preference but grohl usually uses larger tom sizes, i like my 6″ and 8″s.
And martin you have no idea how envious i am of you!!! Give us a job la?
It’s hard for me to imagine Albini doing something like this. But who knows?
Well toontrack hasn’t let me down yet, I’m sure I’ll get some use out of it. I’ll admit it’s not what I expected, but I’m confident I could see myself effortlessly combining different toontrack snares etc aka Steven slate, to create my custom snare etc. bring it on!
Ok its been march 15th here in australia for like 15 hours now, i know its only early there in svvvveden, but come on boys, im dying to know here?? wheres my email!!
by the way i ordered custom and vintage from your webshop, no idea why i didnt bloody order from australia, i could have had it in like 3 days, now i gotta wait ages…………… does anyone else ever have those really, really stupid days?
Ahh crap, i cant wait till march the 15th, i need to know now god dam it!!! Im not smart enough to figure it out from the illustration! Some sort of flower power? funk pack? or somethin. Come on whitten, use your insider advantage and put us (me) out of our (my) misery!
Seriously though, i buy my new car over the weekend, and with the leftovers im finally getting Custom and vintage SDX and the Evil drums from Platinum samples, i need to know wether i should save my money for march 15th??? ahh what to do, what to do??
Im quite happy to see these guys continue to release crappy sound modules, keeps Toontrack out in front. Agree with you chris the joey jordison bit is a bit, well erm, embarrassing? Those cymbals? horrible.
Im still planing to convert my old mapex mars pro into an electric kit using mesh heads, vdrum triggers and smartrigger brass cymbals. Im gonna re-wrap my shells in a chrome mirror finish and ill be happy. The TD20 can stay in the home studio, the acoustic electric will go live.
No matter how good the TD20 is, its just so unsexy on stage, I love real dimensions, my 8″ tom is just so beautiful, with its old tube lugs, hate having no dimensions on the TD20.
This pearl elive kit is maybe a step in the right direction, but it doesnt get my vote.
Each to their own i suppose!
and sorry more noob questions:
1. What do you think of the alesis triggers?
2. I play through MIDI out to USB on the TD20 using Pro tools 8, an Mbox 1 and also an Mbox2mini (depending on laptop or desktop) How does the Roland TMC6 work, is it another MIDI out cable? ie two plugging into computer by USB? That cant be right can it? I can only specify one input to the plugin, Im confused.
3. does the TMC6 support triggering the seperate ‘zones’ inside the mesh pads
Thanks again pops.
Thanks for the info, do you know if that Roland TMC-6 works well with heart dynamic cymbals? Ie triggering them correctly and all that? Im only looking at the heart cymbals cos they’ve made the effort to atleast try and make the cymbals look like splash’s and china’s etc, are there any other brands out there who do something similar? and perhaps cheaper? The roland cymbals look pretty poor to me?
Thanks again…………pops.
