I’ve got half a dozen kits as well and, as far as I know, there really isn’t a viable alternative on Linux. The only thing that comes close but is only limited to one kit is MT Power DrumKit. That’ll be a somewhat easy transition. Impulse responses for guitars and all are, of course, universal.

Getting the hardware to run is another problem. We could use a virtual machine to run Windows for our recording purposes, but so far it appears that, USB devices don’t bridge to the virtual machine. So… we’re screwed there.

    Here comes a rant.

Truth be told, Microsoft’s motive is to force as many people as possible under their, I don’t know, watchful eye or something with the Microsoft account. They have gone as far as to say ‘just buy new hardware’ to meet their TPM 2.0 requirement. That’s where we’re at. They’re that brazen about it.

Modern hardware can run Windows 11 performance-wise. The TPM 2.0 is entirely arbitrary. Moreover there’s the whole required encryptment which would be watched over by Microsoft. Online. Forgetting the little fact that the best security measure against any online threats is… being offline.

What gets me is the aggression. All of this SCREAMS to me their motive isn’t in any way pure. This is abuse of dominant market position, pure and simple. They’re doing this because they have a stranglehold of the market.

Another thing that gets me is that decisionmakers haven’t taken notice. There are grounds for an anti-trust case.

    Yeah. End rant.

I seriously want shit to work with Linux…

Another thing is that, we’ll probably have to then buy the Linux version. VST doesn’t work on Linux natively so it’s something some Linux developer would have to do. It’s not unheard of and some efforts have been made, but for now we need Carla or Yabridge. Plus as I understand it, VST as a concept itself needs some sort of licencing… I don’t know. This stuff is so tiresome.

EDIT: You know, we really need to start a pestering campaign and start messaging all the manufacturers and software developers to please start doing the Linux thing. I just don’t know how to hell to machine any of this.

I’ve been on this topic before, but I’ll just repeat my request here, in exhaustion, after sending the same message directly to Toontrack.

PLEASE make your stuff work on Linux!

Hopefully at some point. Wanting to get rid of Windows and EZ Drummer is just one of the many things holding me back.

Here’s another voice for the Linux support.

I’m one of those who’s getting tired of Microsofts sh… and trying to get into Linux. Linux Mint seems to be doing a good job, but I have trouble getting my Scarlett 18i8 1st Gen to work with it. I’ve succeeded with other distros but Linux Mint is being a pain in the ass about it. I don’t know if the desktop itself matters, but I’m using Xfce. Seems to be most customisable and I can also get rid of idiocies like disappearing scrollbars. Whoever came up with that belongs in the same hell with the guy who invented infinite scrolling.

As for Windows… Microsoft are confusing an operation system with collar and leash. It’s insane what ‘features’ they’re packing in it. Plus ads even if you pay good money for the licence. Just… what the hell, Microsoft?

I wonder what Windows 12 will be like. Microsoft have this funny way of screwing up one operation system and then getting it right on the next one. I skipped Vista and 8. But apparently it’s not gonna be that easy with 11…

Emailed Payex. While they won’t outline the problem to me, they claim the problem is at Toontrack’s.

Same problem right here although it’s not showing a price too high. At any rate, can’t complete purchase for some reason. My cards work elsewhere.
