    Hi Scott,

I’m pondering the same question, but for very different reasons.

I am a drummer. I have a hybrid kit with mesh heads and triggers. I’m using low volume real cymbals with this. It’s the perfect home practice kit, but I’m constrained by the limited choice of drum samples I have with my module.

I have been using the trial version of EZDrummer for the past week and I’m not sure it’s for me.

On the one hand, I love the sound of the drum samples, which are superior to those on my module (the Yamaha EAD10, which in fairness is much more than a module). On the downside, I can’t record my cymbals via EZDrummer. I can do this with my EAD10, because it’s also a mic.

I’m new to recording and music production, but imagine with a good DAW I’ll be able to combine the EZDrummer samples with my recorded cymbals.

The long term aim is to record very hight quality drum tracks for band demos/recordings.

The alternative is to record my acoustic drum kit, which is a lot more time consuming.

Any advice/thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    John
