Click the menu button in upper right corner of the Drums screen. The dropdown list includes a PDF of the manual. Also helpful is the PDF of the piano keyboard midi map for whatever kit you’re using.
Although as I re-read the OP the question appears to also be about searching for matching grooves after getting the midi from the DAW into EZD2.
Scott, I recall reading in another post that searching for matching grooves only works with midi that is natively in EZD2 in the first place. In other words if a user creates midi some other way and imports it into EZD2 it’s not possible to search for matching EZD2 grooves.
Is that correct?
another option — i think it’s an option although i haven’t yet tried it so someone correct me if this is wrong — would be to export the midi file from your DAW and save it wherever you wish, then use the import command in EZD2. scott’s suggestion above sounds like fewer steps, however.

When or When will this be fixed? I feel many of us newer folks are really missing out on good comments and info by not having access to these forums.
agreed. i don’t need to post a question in the support forum at the moment but i could learn a heck of a lot by reading solutions to user problems. i’m still denied access to read my own post, the reply to it, or anyone else’s posts and replies.

Chris, can you still not see the EZdrummer support forum: http://www.toontrack.com/forum/ezdrummer-help/ ?
correct, access is still denied. i can neither see my post there nor can i navigate to that forum to post something new. the good news is i don’t have any reason to navigate there to post any problems!
still it would be nice if it could be fixed. thanks for all the effort. you guys are amazing — or maybe nuts — for launching a new product, new web site, and new forum all at the same time.
by the way, mats wilander is my all-time favorite tennis player. just wanted to throw that in there.
i’ll keep trying to access the support forum. it’ll get fixed eventually i’m sure, and you’ve got many more and bigger problems to worry about.

Hi,
there should be no hits outside the documented ones in Toontrack grooves. I think you are experiencing the engine’s humanizing feature picking samples from the pool in a manner to make for a realistic playback.
thank you, john. i also got a reply from erik at toontrack so i have the info i need. i appreciate the replies, EZD2 sounds great so thanks for everything.
@Erik said:The different hits that you can hear is chosen for you automatically within the Sample Engine. It’s optimized so you will never get the typical machine gun effect. So for the Snare you just play a Snare roll on the Center articulation and the engine will make it sound natural automatically.
thanks very much, erik. i see you have replied here and to my other post as well. i appreciate the info and i’m enjoying discovering all that EZD2 can do.

Have you downloaded the EZD2 user manual from your online product page?
Secondly, have you fully authorized your product online at your product page.
yes i downloaded the user manual. there is no midi map or piano roll in the user manual. in my post i referred to the midi map supplied with EZD1. it’s a general map showing only generic drum hits. snare, tom1, tom2, etc. there are other drum articulations available not shown on the map. for example, snare left hand hit, snare right hand hit, tom1 left hand hit, tom1 right hand hit, tom1 rimshot etc. there’s more than just ride cymbal and bell ride cymbal. there are additional ride cymbal articulations such as bow and punch. i’d like to see the full map with all available articulations for EZD2 so i can edit and use all available sounds in my projects, not just the generic sounds.
why do i care? here’s just one example: human drum rolls are not played all with one hand. human drum rolls are played with alternate left and right strokes. to create a realistic drum roll of any length — 3 stroke, 7-stroke, 21-stroke — on any drum it’s important to program alternating left and right strokes. otherwise you get the machine gun effect.
regarding your second question, yes my product is fully registered and authorized. i contacted support and they acknowledge some bugs in the forum system. they’ll work it out, poor guys are swamped right now launching a new product, a new web site and a new forum.
thanks very much for replying and for offering assistance.
Well that’s a start. I can reply to posts but can’t start my own.
Henrik, any way you can post the reply to my previous question, the one that is supposedly answered in the support form but i can’t view because i am denied access? the question is this:
got EZD2 up and running, looks and sounds great. many thanks toontrack for the enhancements.
the supplied map showing which keys on a piano keyboard trigger which sounds is helpful for the basic drum hits: basic snare, basic kick, basic crash, etc.
many of the keys on the piano keyboard are simply named “alias.” those keys are alternate hits of the drums and cymbals. for example, snare left hand hit, snare right hand hit, tom left hand hit, tom right hand hit, etc.
listening to some of the EZD2 grooves i can clearly hear alternate hits. some snare hits are clearly different than others, some tom hits are clearly different than others, etc. so i know different articulations exist inside EZD2.
question is, where are those alternate sounds triggered on the piano keyboard? does a complete keyboard map exist for EZD2 that shows all of the included articulations available on the piano roll? after i drag and drop a groove into a project i want to edit it to trigger left vs. right hits or other alternate articulations.
anyone know where to find a piano roll that names all of the alternate articulations available in EZD2? thanks very much.
