The problem is on my business laptop (corporate), so .NET and other updates are done on the IT departments schedule as they see the need for it.

Maybe the new version of Solo just won’t run on this laptop until they decide to do the updates.

Is there anyway I can download the old 1.0 version of Solo for now so I can at least go back to where I was?  Please let me know.  Thanks!

No, I get the same error…

    “C:Program FilesToontrackToontrack soloToontrack solo.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.”

But I have tried reinstalling and I still get the same result.  I’m going to try to uninstall solo altogether and try it again now……………

Nope, no luck.  I uninstalled Solo from Windows control panel, then tried installing the new version of Solo, same result.  Will not open, same error.

I use a Hart Dynamics Prodigy set with mesh heads.  It’s not amazing, but it does the job, and has no problem with 16th notes.  It cost $499 about 3 or 4 years ago, and I think they are a lot cheaper now, or comes with an Alesis DM5 for the same price.   I am actually using the Alesis DM5 with the Hart Kit and that works well also.  I used to use the sounds in it before the kickbutt drum software revolution came upon us, they really aren’t that bad.  They don’t really sit in a mix too realistically, but for jamming and stuff, they are pretty good.

This guy here explains it step by step…

    other info here…

That should get ya going in the right direction.  It seems a lot of people have successfully used this as a Midi controller with Garageband and other programs.
If you got this thing for free, might as well put it to use.  Let us know how you make out!  I’m curious!

Over the weekend, I unpacked that Hart kit, dusted it off, got it all hooked up thru my DM5, thru my M-Audio 1814 into Pro Tools and EZDrummer.  It’s awesome!

I don’t hear any latency that bothers me at all.  Maybe the DM5 has some latency when it’s generating it’s own sounds, I dunno, but when used with EZD, everything is cool.  I was having a blast playing the Nashville kit with the Room mic solo’d, my monitors cranked.

One question, EZD doesn’t have any functionality for a hi-hat pedal switch right?  I don’t think it was ever really designed for e-drums, which is fine.  Just wanted to check.
