    My understanding was that Cubase 12 would no longer accept VST2, or VST1 for that matter.

    This is interesting as all Superior Drummer VSTs are up to VST2, even though Superior Drummer version is 3.

    BUT, after doing some research, it appears that this is only the case for Apple Silicon Macs AND while st running their “Native” mode.

    since all samples used are loaded into RAM, the USB speed only matters when you load a library. I.e. there is no disk streaming.
    Make sure you have sufficient RAM.

    2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Running El Capitan, OSX 10.11.6 with 16Gb RAM, about to increase it to 24Gb.
    I don’t want to add too much because of heating issues.

    AND, I have just found I can also insert USB 3.1 X 2 with PCIe card.

    You won’t believe what I throw at her….two 2TB hard drives and one 3TB hard drive and another hard drive of 4TB.
    She just keeps going and going…….
