Hi,
you are not missing a preference. There is no audition function when you right-click and select from the available instruments for the current position from the same library.
Just switch it and trigger via controller or Preview pad. Or just hit Alt+R to bring up the Search for Instrument window, which gives you the option to skip replacing the instrument.
BR,
John
Ok, I discovered the preview pad. That helps in other situations. But I don’t understand how that will help audition the sounds in the right-click menu where I should simply be able to use the up/down arrows and hear that drum sound.
As you probably know, clicking on a drum replacement, then the window automatically closes and you test it by hitting the drum, then it’s not the right sound so again right click, select another, the window closes…horrible cycle to audition.
After submitting this issue here I did the same directly with Toontrack. They said they have no idea why audition function won’t work with the right-click pop-up, but will work in the Search for Instruments window. Maybe I should suggest this as a feature request? Obviously searching in the Search for Instruments window takes a lot more time.
Which brings up another question…what is the criteria for drum replacements when doing right-click? Are those what’s available in the SDX that I currently have open?
thanks for your reply!
Thank you so much!
I’m an idiot! I kept thinking that little red thing was an indicator that the files were already synced. LOL Now it’s vanished.
Ok. So with SD3 the user midi folders were moved from the right side in EZ Drummer to the grooves page in SD3 near the bottom under “user midi.” Understood.
However in SD3, no matter what folder or sub-folder I click on, it says “empty folder” where the midi files should show up.
Here is my path.
C>users>user name>documents>toontrack>ezdrummer>user midi.
Inside the User midi folder I have lots of folders and lots of sub-folders. For example, because I wanted Chris Whitten fills in my user midi folder, I copied them into a user midi folder. I have the following: User midi>custom & vintage>chriswhitten sticks>song 1 107bpm >fill variations. Inside the folder fill variations are 10 midi files, but they don’t show up in SD3. clicking on Fill variations does nothing. It says Empty folder.
Even if I just create a new Test Folder inside the User Midi folder, then put a midi file in the Test folder, SD3 shows it as Empty folder. Double clicking on the folder does nothing. Right click shows the usual stuff…re-name, delete, show in explorer etc…
In Settings.libraries/paths I changed the path to c.user.username/documents/toontrack/ezdrummer/user midi, but that made no difference. Changing it back to the default path makes no difference either…assuming I put some midi files for test purposes in Superior 3>SD3 User Presets
I wanted to post a couple .jpg attachments, but I get this Edit/Insert box instead of a .jpg that I can drag and drop here.
Thanks for the reply.
The user midi folder added at the bottom of a SD3 grooves page?
I’m out of town, but will be back in a few days. Thanks for your patience.
Hopefully someone can answer your question other than a user actually counting them.
While this does not apply to the midi packs, I am very weary of purchasing any preset packs without knowing the QUANTITY. I did this with the Charles Feelgood NY Volume 2 and was very unhappy with the amount included which is very little.
Ill never again buy a preset pack without knowing the contents.
Thanks for the reply I did read that. But when I called Sweetwater and spoke with Josh Lively he said he had talked with his Toontrack rep and was “assured” there is additional content. I guess I’ll have to call him back and get this sorted out.
Thanks!

I couldn’t find that SD2 to SD3 upgrade price anywhere on the web.
It was at Time and Space, and 24 hours after I found it, the price was changed and raised. Not only raised price, but the T&S website currency converter now simply takes the british pounds price and converts the upgrade, after the VAT even though if purchasing it from the USA there is no VAT to $199.
I think it’s natural for Toontrack to print a fantasy retail price point so they can have endless and increasing discounts for the next several years. A few will pay the fantasy price. Black Friday should be interesting as they re-evaluate their initial sales. Even more interesting should be Black Friday 2018.
$419 is shocking. But in reality, without even looking very hard I see it’s available at one retailer for $312.07 and the SD2 to SD3 upgrade is at $159.84. (USA prices) Those prices are not going to increase in the future.
No difference unless I’m doing something wrong.
check it out when you have a moment. It could very well be that I’m not doing something right, or there is a Cubase preference I need to look at. As I mentioned I don’t use the song creator or song track very much.
No matter what I drag from EZ2, the name is going to be whatever I have named the track in Cubase…even when I uncheck “parts get track name” in Cubase.
I’m not using the EZ2 song track. All I’m doing is dragging a midi file from the EZ2 midi browser onto the Cubase project page. The result reads “midi EZ drummer” and nothing else.
Maybe you could check to see how it works in C8 and let me know?
Thanks

I’m not in my studio right now to check. IIRC, dragging from the Song Track was different than dragging from the browser in terms of changing the track name. I don’t know why you would want the Cubase track name to change every time you dragged a different groove to the same MIDI track?
Regarding Cubase track names and Cubase parts, there is an option in preferences Cubase >editing>Parts Get Track Names. I’m assuming that should be unchecked therefore allowing the user to drag a midi file from the EZ2 midi browser onto the Cubase project page and that Cubase part receiving the EZ2 midi track name. I just wanted to clarify that in my preferences that was unchecked.
Could you explain how this is supposed to work if I’m not understanding it?
Thanks Scott for your timely replies! Adds great value to Toontrack!

Are you dragging from the MIDI browser or from the Song Track?
Midi browser. Im not in the studio at the moment. Is it only the song track that works?

There has never been any drum maps for any DAW made by Toontrack. The drum maps that used to be on the old site were user contributed. Those didn’t make it over from the old website.
My only suggestion is for a user to create a drum map in Cubase and share it here on the forum.
Translation: Toontrack for whatever reason not interested in doing this.
I have discovered it’s not that time-consuming. Plus, did you ever wonder why Toontrack midi maps don’t even show the very low or high ends on the keyboard.
Here is what you really need to start with when creating drum maps for any DAW and IMO it should be a sticky.
Thank you. I know they haven’t been updated in years, but they are still very important….at least to me.

I posted a question several days ago about trying to find the old Cubase drum maps which apparently have vanished with this new and “improved” site? Anyway every time I come to this forum it says my post is still waiting to be approved by the moderators. That was several days ago.
Anyway if anyone can answer where to find the EZ drummer/Superior drum maps for Cubase it would be appreciated.
Thank you
Greg
