Please verify that you have Superior 2.2.2 installed.  They won’t show up unless you have at least that version installed.
You can check the version by opening Superior; the version number should be listed near the top right area, just to the left of where it says “Superior Drummer”.
    Hope it helps!

    That’ll be a ProTools setting.
I’m not very familiar with ProTools so…

hopefully someone else can answer better! 😀

…but you’ll probably be looking for something along the lines of “overdub” for MIDI in the help files.

    [edit]
Nevermind… found it in the Pro Tools Reference Guide
Page 355, “Record Modes and MIDI” — you’re looking for “MIDI Merge”.
It’s worth reading that section of the manual for more info too.

I do see one Latin Percussion update in the downloads area…
    http://www.toontrack.com/downloads.asp
…but I’m not certain that’s where the “Additional” grooves came from.  Here’s how they appear in my grooves listing…

I don’t know if it will work, but have you tried debit instead?
That will draw directly from, usually, your checking account.

tried all the ones i own (which is most)
and I’d have to say the closest would be in the stock Superior Drummer kit, Avatar, with the 13″ Sabian HHX Evolution hi-hat (not the default one).

runners up were actually also stock kits, but ones from EZ Drummer — Pop/Rock 14″ Sabian HHX Manhattan and maybe the Cocktail 14″ Zildjian – Sticks hi-hat.

did some quick research afterward, but couldn’t turn up what cymbals Mr. Willie Hall actually used for that song.

I’m not terribly familiar with Reason, but it sounds like you’ll want to look up ReWire.
A quick google search for “Reason Reaper ReWire” (thassalotta Rs!) brings up what I believe are some good hits on the Cockos Reaper forum.
I’d bet that, if you already have the ReWire things hooked up, you may just be missing arming the track for recording, which is as simple as pressing the red “ar” button on the track you want to record in Reaper.  When the extra recording armed interface bits pop out on that track, I’ll usually also press the speaker icon button to monitor the recording.  Right-clicking these buttons gives even more options.  Hope that helps!

assuming you just have EZ Drummer, the best I can come up with for what I *think* you’re looking for is in the included Cocktail EZX kit.
change the ride cymbal to “Ride Mikaelsson – Sticks” and the low velocity hits should get the effect I *think* you’re going for?

Make sure that, in Reaper, you’re looking for “Dfh Sampler” (for some reason, Reaper uses that name instead of the EZDrummer name).
If it’s definitely not showing up, make sure that Reaper’s scanning the correct folder where you installed EZ Drummer.
    In Reaper…
    Options > Preferences (or Ctrl-P)
    Plug-Ins > VST
…and you should find the “VST plug-in paths” listed there.  Mine, for example, looks like this…
    C:Program Filesjamstix2;C:Program FilesVSTPlugins
…since most of my plugins (including the Toontrack stuff) are in C:Program FilesVSTPlugins, but I also have JamStix installed elsewhere so I have to tell Reaper where to find it.  The “ezdrummer.dll” file is what Reaper is looking for.

If you’re pretty sure you have that set up correctly, and it’s still not showing up, write back and if you can, provide some screenshots of these areas — we might catch something you may’ve missed.

If you don’t want to record your guitar direct, then the only other option I know of is to use a mic.  I usually do all of my guitars direct, so I’m afraid I can’t be much help there.

    ORIGINAL: Scott
[…]The only other thing you’ll probably want to do in load a MIDI map so you can see what MIDI notes corresponds to what drum kit piece in EZD. You can check the http://stash.reaper.fm/ and search the ‘MIDI Drum Maps’ category for user contributed MIDI maps for EZD/DFH EZX. These MIDI maps can be loaded in the MIDI editor window under ‘File’ and ‘Load note names from file…’

Haven’t used the stash much for things other than skins.  Just uploaded all of my notemaps there thanks to this post! 🙂

sorry, I’d written a reply the other day and then my browser decided to die — figured you’d have had another response by now! 😀

i’ll try to remember what I’d intended to post…

generally, I also start with 100.  and then just mouse it up and down from there, depending on what “feels” right and what sounds right, especially thinking about how I would actually drum the part (*if* I were actually a drummer… so there’s a bit of virtual virtualization going on there… :P).

and as far as things not being audible in the mix… I suppose it depends on the mix, but I definitely notice that even small things that *seem* inaudible add something to the sound… take them away and you may notice there’s *something* missing, but you may not be quite sure what it is.
(and also, the other lower-velocity hits are there because not all music is loud! :D)

in other words… it sounds like you’re doing things right. 🙂  (…as far as I know…)
you could also possibly try a volume boost and compression/limiting to make the quiet elements stand out a little more
and also, if something is *actually* getting lost in the mix, either panning or EQ should prevent it from sitting on top of something else and trying to occupy the same frequency or stereo space.
