I have been using Octapads ever since they were invented. After Roland stopped making them, I have had to buy used replacements as they became necessary. From my experiences I have concluded that when they stop working well, that’s pretty much the beginning of the end. You can try replacing the piezos, or resoldering them, but eventually the pads themselves will just not perform well no matter what you do. It’s just the nature of things that get hit a lot. I’m still waiting for someone to build a similar pad controller with six external trigger inputs. Nobody does that now. KAT is overkill, expensive, and the manual is very necessary. I think I will post elsewhere in the Support Forum to see if anyone is making a similar controller. If you run across anything, or find a successful way to reconstruct yours to perform better, please let me know!
