Thanks John for your quick response.
I tried removing the rim from my racktom #3 as noted. However, there wasn’t a note/key entry for my rim. When I click on the Rim Only I hear the rim click. When I click “learn” to assign the sound to the rim, both the rim and center (head) trigger the same rim click sound. It’s like the pad only has one trigger.
I tried this on my snare which did have a note entry for rim. I was able to assign the rim click to the rim and head sound accordingly – all worked fine. As a test, I swapped cables between my snare and tom pads – the old tom pad now triggered as the snare had. So, apparently it has something to do with my setup, my module (Pearl MimicPRO), or both.
As a further test, I tried changing the EZD module setting to a couple Roland models (TD-15 & TD-30); it reacted the same as the MimicPRO.
A third option I thought about was changing the velocity setting for the rim only. However, apparently this is only assignable to the pad has a whole (i.e., not head & rim independently).
For now John, I’m going to put this all on hold; I may revisit this in the future.
Again, thanks – much appreciated.
Steve K.

Live/Real time. Actually for personal use only – not gigging.
Which e-kit are you using? Just a thought. Is there an option to lower the velocity curve of the other hi-hat hits, leaving the “chick-pedal” as is and push the fader up in EZDrummer?

My module is the Pearl MimicPRO. I’m not sure that’s possible but I will take look at that. However, my VST ONLY kit is “empty” with no assigned instruments so I’m not sure there’d be anything to adjust. Good suggestion – thanks again.
Thanks Devin. I’m running EZD3 standalone so no DAW option(s), at least not yet. Being a newby, that will be next on this excursion.
First off I must apologize for being so naïve – sorry. I did attempt to read the manual but I did not see where this was addressed.
Maybe what I am doing wrong here is I am not saving my kit as a kit but rather as a project. I did not know there was a difference. The file save has an “ezdp3” extension so I assume this is a project – let’s call it test1.ezdp3.
1. File > Open Project > select “test1.ezdp3”
2. File >Set current to Default Project > Overwrite
3. File > Exit
4. Still no luck. . .
BUT – here’s is the work-around I did. I created a shortcut to my project file and placed the link to it on my desktop. When I click on the link it opens EZD3 to my default kit as desired – so for now I guess I’m set.
Again, thanks for your input – much appreciated,
Steve K.
Thanks for your response Jordan. Yes, I believe did save the project as noted.
1. I first created a new kit
2. Saved it with a new name
3. File > Set current to default project > Overwrite
4. Closed EZD3
5. Open EZD3 – however it still defaulted to original kit
To load my kit, I have to then select File > Open > select My Kit
Please excuse my ignorance — So are you saying I can only add the fourth tom if I purchase some supplemental addon or is this option included with EZD? Are there other percussion instruments included with the base EZD that can be assigned to various pad/triggers?
