You can install Superior Drummer 3 (SD3) on an external drive by first downloading the software onto your Mac without the sound libraries. Then, use the Toontrack Product Manager to download the sound libraries directly onto the external drive. If SD3 still insists on installing onto the main drive, you can create a symlink to redirect the sound libraries from the main drive to the external drive.
