OK, never mind… I got it working now. Seems Norton just doesn’t like your 64 Bit Updater. After Norton removed the file, I told Norton to restore it (despite Norton’s insistence that it could be harmful to my computer), and then I was able to install it and it works fine now.
You might want to check with Norton to find out why they don’t trust your file. I suspect I can’t be the only person to have experienced this problem.

Thanks again for your help! Glad to have EZ Drummer up and running again.

Thanks, John. That must be what’s going wrong. I see now that the 64 bit upgrade is included in update 1.4. Hadn’t noticed that before.

UPDATE: Okay, I’ve tried downloading the updater again, but it’s still not working. When I try to open the 64-bit updater, I get the following error message:
“Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permission to access the item.”
(I am set up as the administrator on this PC, so I’m not sure what it means when it says I may not have appropriate permission.)

Then Norton pops up and tells me the file isn’t safe, and automatically deletes it.

The 32 bit updater works fine, but that doesn’t help since I need the 64 bit version.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your reply.
I actually kind of regret getting Electronic… NOT because it’s not good (it is!), but I bought it just before Number One Hits came out, and Number One Hits seems slightly closer to what I wanted, and yet, it’s so similar, I can’t really justify spending another $40 to get it. So maybe I’ll get POP! instead. It seems different enough. Is anyone here using Pop!? Any thoughts about the quality of it (yes, I know there are some demo tunes on the site, but it’s always nice to get feedback from people who are really using it, since demos naturally try to showcase all the strong points.)

Thanks for the advice. I was kind of leaning towards Metal Machine, too (well, I HAD been leaning towards Nashville for several months, but then I saw some YouTube clips of Metal Machine a few days ago, and absolutely loved the sound of it. I just feared that it might be too heavily skewed towards metal.)

Do you have any youtube/mp3 examples to link to?

Well, I’m a bit embarassed to post these, since I freely admit they could use some work, but these are two examples of the sort of thing I write:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvkqkw3fBLQ&feature=relmfu

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajIStpE8HOY

These were done with the standard Pop/Rock kit that comes with EZ Drummer (in retrospect, maybe my description of my music “veering towards pop/rock” isn’t so accurate in this case, but I’m not sure how to describe it exactly.)

Any suggestions on what EZX packs would work well for this sort of thing?
    Thanks.
