So here I am thinking, Toontrack must really thinking ahead and gathering user experience with SD3 to make improvements in the next version.   So unless SD4 is a decade off, why must this topic have to be left just to good humor?

I’ve been using Sd3 for about 8 mos now, love it, but also finding a number of things I could love even more on several fronts (incl. mixer interface, organization around User Sets and User Instruments, midi options for Live Performance i.e. why not give Ableton Live a run for its money, etc.)

So instead of listing those here, looking forward to Toontrack actually asking me for the feedback!

I also agree this would be a great feature

I realize this reply is 3 1/2 years later but I am still not seeing this important functionality in my SD3.

Here’s the deal: in live playing situations, I’d like for the standalone SD3 software to be “ridiculously awesome :)” and be able to accept incoming MIDI program changes for both Kits and CC commands to change out individual instruments.  Why?  Because my band is controlling our song / background tracks using Ableton Live (scenes), and setting up our instruments for each song using MIDI program change commands.  My Roland Td-30KV using SD3 in my case.

So, if for a song I need my hi-hat to sound like Bonham’s (add tamborine-stack), or in the middle of a song I need drums to be different (i.e. more compressed) just for the intro (U2 Elevation for example), need those kit and/or instrument switches to happen automated with a Ableton Live’s MIDI change signal.   Ableton, BTW, running on a separate computer (not SD3 as a VST).   Hence, capability in SD3 running standalone.   Also, tell me please f I’ve missed it, and SD3 can do this already.

Thanks for the confirmation. The word “yet” let’s me hope for the future ?

So here we are 1 year later… how about now?  🙂

Hi, new to Superior Drummer, driving from my existing (and highly customized) Roland TD30-KV.  Two suggestions for features that either i) I can’t find or ii) don’t exist.

The first would be the ability to modify and customize the graphical kit to match my kit setup.  I.e. a library of wireframe drums, cymbals and other instructments that can add or replace the setup shown.  In other words, put a cowbell in the kitr, add a Roland SPD, or add any other Add Instrument to the visual kit on the main image (versus just as tiles on the left).

Second, in the standalone software I’d like to be able to have MIDI drive program changes in my selected kit, for live performance.  That is, if our keyboard player driving Abelton Live (on a separate computer) selects a specific song (scene), it sends a MIDI command to SD3 to change to the corresponding kitm  We play a lot of covers and simply I’d like my selected kit to be preprogramed and selected for each song.   (Alternatively, SD3 as a VST, maybe my DAW could do this already?)

    Interested in your thoughts, thanks!
