Thank you so much John. Your answer woke up some neurons in my head 🙂
I discovered the problem was with the “open pedal” function:
I set MIDI to “E-Drums”, then I made SD to learn the open-pedal movement and then I lowered it’s volume 🙂
now I have a fully functional hi-hat pedal working in Superior Drummer!

Hi! I’m using Superior Drummer (latest version) with my Yamaha DTXPRESS IV and I have the same problem.
The hi-hat pedal triggers a floor tom and is annoying.
What I do is to use the “Learn” feature and try to program the best I can, the hi-hat sounds.
I can make SD learn the open, closed, and chick sound. I don’t know how to work with the other sounds (open1, open2, etc)
I haven’t tried it but I know Addictive has a preset that automatically maps a DTXpress IV correctly…
