    Spirit,

Not sure who Gaia is, but it is a very nice song!  The scratchy vinyl sound gives it an interesting vibe.  Yeah, so far I think the EZD3 bright room sounds the best on that software.  Nice job!  🙂

    Spirit,

Thank you for listening and commenting, I appreciate it!  The intro female vocals on “Don’t Let Him Take You Down” are from EastWest Hollywood Backup Singers: it’s not unusual that I use use Melodyne to do pitch tweaks on those vocals too.  Yes, I have used that vocal software on some of my other songs also.  It is 3 Black women, one of which has sung with Pink Floyd in the past.

Reminds me a bit of Yes, which is a compliment.  I was supposed to see Yes in concert a couple of months ago and my wife got a mild case of covid, and I didn’t want to cause a super-spreader event.  Interesting synth sounds.  I thought it sounded pretty cool!  Perhaps you could check out my latest thread.

    TrebleHook,

That time your link (the bottom one, the top one still doesn’t work for me) worked!  I won’t comment on the politics (no matter what a person says, you’re gonna piss off half of the US of A), but the song itself is very good all around.  I was most impressed with the slide guitar playing.  I use a slide once in a a while, but I wish I was better at it.  Melodyne can help me a bit with that, but not as much as I’d like it to.   Rock on man, you have talent!  🙂

    TrebleHook ,

Thank you for the review!  I’m impressed by your drummer’s resume (or was he just the guy that worked on the toontrack drum software you used?), though your youtube link did not work for me.  I’m gonna see if I can find the song on youtube “manually”……………..nope that did not work either.  Even though I live near Los Angeles, I have been to Florida several times, mostly because of the snorkeling, typically in the Florida Keys.  First time I snorkeled in Florida (off of Fort Lauderdale), they didn’t tell me it was a shark snorkel tour until I was halfway through signing the liability waiver form.  It was great and I survived!  My main photo on my music website was from that shark dive.  And I like the swamps of Florida, and snorkeled with manatees once.

    TrebleHook,

Thank you for listening and reviewing the song, I appreciate it!  I did my best to make the Chapman Stick plenty audible with volume, Line 6 Helix amp model and effects, and compression (probably 2 or 3 compressors: Helix and Presswerk).

    Spirit,

Thank you for listening and commenting, I appreciate it!  If you like reggae, you might like the song I posted back on August 16th called “In A Spirit Realm”.  If there are any songs of yours you want me to review, leave me a link.

    Spirit,

Don’t worry, I wasn’t offended.  Yeah, I would drive my wife and daughter insane if I mixed on monitors.  Plus, I like the way headphones sound anyway.  Though headphones don’t vibrate your whole body like speakers do.

    Spirit,

Thank you for the review!  Now your song: I did a hot air balloon ride once.  I am very tall, so the hot flame was at times very uncomfortable, but otherwise it was really cool!  Your song sounds quite nice; I think it would work well with a video, TV show, or a movie.

    Spirit,

I just mix with my headphone/ear/brain combo that works best for me; though I realize people are going to have various sound systems and have a different perception of what sounds good.  I have had it in the past where one person says, “not enough bass”, and another person says, “too much bass” for the same exact song; stuff like that.  But anyway, thank you for listening to my song and reviewing it, I appreciate it!

    Dan,

Thank you for the review!  Now your (or your brother’s) song: I was expecting a metal song (not a disappointment), though it was 70ish classic rock song (in my opinion); which is fine by me.  Nice melodies.  The vocals are well done, and everything sounds good instrumentally.  Nice song and recording!  :).  If you are interested in hearing my Pierre Trudeau story, let me know.

    Dan Wilson,

Thank you for listening and replying, I appreciate it!  I like Bowie a lot, so I will take that as a compliment.  I own a Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Model GCB-95 wah wah pedal.  The slap bass is EZBass; other than that, I am playing a real electric bass.

    Torbjorn,

Thanks for the review!  Now your song: Especially when the “whole band” kicks in, it sounds really good!  If your mother likes this style of music, she should really like it!  It sounds complete to me!  Nice melodies, everything is well played, and sung.  Are you from Europe?  I detect no European accent.
