I was content with my older iMac and Mac OS 10.11, but that iMac’s monitor started having major issues; though I wasn’t going to fix it because that iMac is at least 10 years old, so I got a new iMac this month and Catalina came with it. Several years ago I reverted back to an older Mac OS because after I went with a new (at that time) Mac OS and a lot of my plugins did not work right yet, but I lost all sorts of stuff in the process. I thought everything was backed up, but it wasn’t. At least Catalina has been out for a while. A couple of people on the Line 6 forums upgraded to the latest Helix Native & they said it works OK with Catalina, but I’m leery so far.

I wondered if your guitar tone was Helix. I used a PodXT for several years, along with a Bass Pod (which mostly died), then got a Bass PodXT. I have used Helix Native for the last ~1 1/2 years. There is a new version of Helix that just came out, but it seems like it doesn’t work right with Mac OS Catalina that I have now. I did not download it, because it did not mention Catalina compatibility (but the older Helix Native works, strangely). Some people tried it with Catalina and it did not work with the latest items on Helix Native. I show up on the Line 6 forums at times.

Very good. I own Arturia Wurli V that I play once in a while. Toontrack has a Wurlitzer emulation too.

Bear-Faced Cow,
Thank you for the review! Now I know who the real Homer is. Now listening to your song. Interesting guitar tone, I like it. What’s the story behind that? Nice song. My lyrics are usually vaguely, or not obviously Christian. I don’t want to scare off the Satan worshippers too quickly. 🙂

Jack,
Listening to “Lost My Way”. Sounds very nice! Reminds me of a variety of well known groups. Perhaps you could check out my latest thread.

My band name is aaron aardvark. But I normally go by Chris. Just like Pink Floyd, only entirely different. Thank you for listening and commenting, I appreciate it! Are you from a particular state or country? I’m always curious about that when someone comments on one of my tunes.

x_name,
Are you saying “Poundcake” is not a Van Halen song?

Tonefinder,
The original post said “Poundcake”, which was released in 1991. I don’t know what year Alex started using Simmons (or similar) drums, but I would imagine it was before 1991.

ZeroEmpire,
Thank you for the review! Now your tune: the guitar riffs are cool! Do you use a Whammy pedal, or how did you do the lead guitar? The lead guitar parts are impressive, and the drums are nice too. What state or country are you from?

xname and rallyboy101,
xname has resurrected a thread from almost 4 years ago, and I’m not sure you guys listened to the correct song. Make sure the song title is actually “Found Today”. It’s possible that the direct link for “Found Today” only works in the older version of soundclick. If you listened to the most recent song I posted on soundclick (“Fortify Your Faith”), it has a bit of a gated reverb sound ala Phil Collins, but less so than “Found Today”. Either way, I appreciate that you listened to my music and replied. I have been using the cheapest version of Cubase (AI8 as of lately, and possibly LE4 on “Found Today”), so I’m not sure if I can do side-chaining compression. I have used u-he Presswerk compression the last few years (on top of Superior Drummer 2’s compression), and it seems doing side-chained compression is an elaborate process with Cubase and Presswerk, if I can even do it. Curious if you guys are from a particular state or country. I’m always wondering where people are from when they comment on my music.
