I’m old,I like to see a more prog oriented kit in the way of ELP,Yes,King Crimson.
    Anyone else?

    +1

I wish Toontrack had picked up Neil Peart instead of the other company.

Also wish for a Mike Portnoy SDX.

How about that? A Progressive SDX with either Peart or Portnoy?

    Thanks,
    Brandon

There are two parts to this. Midi is the computer language that the drum loops were recorded in. They trigger the actual drum samples in the program. They can be changed, re-arranged, slowed down, made faster, … the sky is the limit.

The actual sounds are more live wav files which are triggered from the program (and are stored on your hard drive). Those recordings are what I believe are meant by the 24 bit vs. 16 bit comment. So, the Music City samples have greater clarity.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks,

Thanks so much everyone for WONDERFUL information.

I guess I was just a bit worried if I found a 2 measure MIDI file, and then copied/pasted it for an entire verse whether that would sound exactly like a real drummer.

    Thanks!

I had a problem with 3 files. Fortunately, my home computer (newer HP) could read them, so I put them onto a external hard drive and ported them over.
