    Hi Bruce,

this is what I just did on a Win11 PC with no prior EZbass installation:

Ran the Product Manager application and browsed to my EZbass product.

Clicked ‘Show Details’ and then the gray ‘Download’ button next to the 1.1.8 software update.

After it downloaded, I clicked the small menu to the right of the ‘Download’ button and then ‘Show in Explorer’.

Then I un-zipped the archive and ran the ‘EZbass Software Updater’.

Next I Authorised EZbass and when launched, it asked me for the location of my EZbass libraries.

    I hope this helps,

    John

Thanks for the update – but that is markedly different that what I saw if one follows the prompts from Product Manager as their guide

I mean what mortal user would ever know to do the “Show In Explorer, unzip the archive, run the updater manually” steps?

That sounds like insider intel that only a TT Tech Advisor would know 🙂 But thank you for sharing!

FWIW: Your success with EZBass and these custom steps are exactly what EZD3 and EZK2 allow us do VIA Product Manager – without any custom steps.

Would be nice to inform whoever manages Product Manager to allow EZBass to behave the same as these other two in a reinstall situation with existing content.

    Cheers

The first (and primary) issue – is that I want to install EZBass v1.1.8 ONLY for a new install. Not EZBass 1.0.0 and then have to mess around adding more updates and more hassle.

It is this exact step forced by Product Manager that results in the installer routine forcing me to install the EZBass “content” all over again – when it is already present.

It is a complete waste of time and presumably is overwriting files that are already known to be good. I did not ask for (or need) a content reinstall if the content is already there. Again – this is the exact opposite of EZKeys2 and EZD3. They do NOT ask to reinstall anything.

Just want to have Product Manager allow me to directly install EZBass v 1.1.8 (or whatever is the latest), launch it standalone, then wait for it to tell me it cannot find it’s sound content, point it to my L drive and we are golden. Should take less than a minute.

This is exactly what I do with EZD3 and EZKeys. No side installs or weird errors about needing a “prior” version before attempting to install this version – nothing like that.

just point the content path to your existing content rather than the default. for relocating the content (and checking) see this FAQ for moving libraries for all product:
    https://www.toontrack.com/faq/how-do-i-move-my-sound-libraries-expansions-to-an-external-drive/

on my system some app i use their content location settings, and others i use directory junction for mapping to allow me to put all the content on a “content” drive.

    Operating system: Windows 11

This works fine for EZKeys and EZDrummer – but does not for EZBass. You can see in my first post where this goes. It is not clean nor logical nor anything like the other two.

Hopefully something that Toontrack is looking into as this process is not good at all when users want to reinstall or move libraries.

yes. it’s a bug affecting that particular pop up. Click Show Details, and you should be able to start the desired installer (64 or 32-bit) from there.

    Worked great.

One more Q: Is it possible for a later build of PM – to have it NOT notify on “bitness” with regards to software installs.

I am 64 bit all the way and I noticed that PM insists on telling me that some items are only partially installed – in that the 32bit version of xyz is not installed.

I will never need a 32 bit version of anything. Would be nice to have an option in PM to only notify for specific software versions (32 bit, 64Bit or Both) when viewing the summary panels in PM.

Would make for a cleaner display and save cycles/disc space etc by not downloading things we do not need.
