I’m trying to do this same thing. I don’t see the S2 user preset in the list of maps. Has it been removed or am I doing something wrong?
EDIT: I figured it out. I just opened my drum map in Cubase on the new SD3 track and it all matched.
I finally got this fixed.
I’m not sure why but the Program Manager doesn’t like it or can’t handle it when the SDXs are already installed. SD3 recognized them and knew they were installed but Program Manager didn’t know they were installed despite following the directions from Toontrack support to un-point to them and then repoint to them and restart the computer. So I had to delete the folder that contained the install and then re-install them exactly like they were before. This worked fine……
…until I pushed Clean Up which deleted all my downloaded files AND my new installs because Program (mis)-Manager had installed all the SDXs in the same folder it wanted to delete when doing clean-up. So then I had to re-download all my SDX’s and install them again in a different folder.
Of course this was my fault for trusting the program to work properly but I do think this Program Manager could be made to actually work. As it is, it would have been easier to do the whole thing manually.
I think I’m going to love SD3 but I sure am glad this ridiculous ordeal is over.
I got a facebook ad from Drum-Tec in Germany. I bought the upgrade for 184.04 Euros just a moment ago. That’s 219E – 19% VAT. They apparently have some licences still. It registered fine. No problems.
Here’s the link

I hope this helps you guys

Thanked by: pjhk I’ve been using the Roland TD12 and I’m totally satisfied with the triggering I’m getting once I got it all set up.
I use it like you want to. When I have a song that won’t allow low latency because of too many VSTs etc I use the Td sounds while recording. The reason I got the TD 12 was because of the HH triggering and positional sensing on the SD and Ride cymbal.
The stereo outputs have nothing to do with the number of pads. Midi pads are like midi notes on a keyboard. Each pad would respond to a different midi note. Some pads output more than one midi note. There are 128 notes available on each midi channel.
You don’t need to worry about having too many pads.
Cheers,
Frank
Hey Phillipe. I’m in exactly the same position as you. I’m looking to buy a kit to trigger SD2 and have a drummer play it from time to time.
I looked at the manual for the TD 30 module to try and determine if there would be any advantage to using the module to trigger SD2 and it looks like the parameters sent by the module are the same as those on the TD 20/12 for the hihat, ride and toms basically. The only differences I see are the nuance setting for the rims in the TD 20 and TD 30 and the positional sensing on the auxs for the TD 30. I’m not sure how these parameters would translate as midi data (I know they are CC messages) and whether that would translate to more expressiveness in SD2.
I haven’t used an edrum set with SD2 yet so all I’m going by is the manuals. They are kind of hard to decipher because they don’t use the same language to describe the same thing in all the manuals.
I’m leaning towards getting a TD 12kx at the moment but I think I’ll wait for the 30s to come out so I can look at a TD 30K set. The advantage of that would be the size of the pads for when I have drummers over and also future expandability. The disadvantage is the price.
Cheers,
Frank
