Ok so I listened to this with my monitor headphones, and honestly I dont get a box sound at all. IMHO, I think cutting your low end up to 200hz is a mistake as I think you have taken some body out of the vocals and guitars, but then again it IS only vocals and guitar. Try adding a bus track of the vocals(Panned centered) and take the 2 vocal tracks and start to pan them left and right and see how the separation might add some depth. Then slowly start filling the center with the bussed vocal track, with maybe some reverb. As for the guitars, bring back some of that low end, just a tad and maybe gently add some low-mids for color around 400hz on up. This pressure you speak of, how loud are you listening to this, and what are you listeing to this with, I felt no such thing even when playing this track loud on my ATH-D40s. Like I said, I think you have a very good clean sound that can use just a little body. A great reference track for acoustic guitar is anything by Andy Mckee, IMHO for a good start!

It can be alot of things. Do you have EZ drummer loaded , can you see the screen but cannot hear the drum sounds? I am currently using X2 64bit on a windows 7pro operating system, if your the same follow me, even if your not, you can reference my paths on your system Im sure! Make sure you installing the proper bit for your Operating System IE, 32bit or 64bit, this is a common problem. Also, make sure the .DLL files are where they should be, here is my path on my pc, C:program filesCakewalkVstpluginstoontrack64bit – in this folder you should have all your toontrack .DLL files! Now, pay attention, in your C:program files (x86)toontrack folder you should have a folder for EZdrummer and in that folder any addons for the kit should have their own folders, IE, EZX_MetalMachine and so on, along with these following folders, HelpMenu, Midi, Sounds. Make sure these folders and Files are there. Also in your C:Program Files (x86) CakewalkVst plugins folder should be copies of all of the toontrack .DLL files. Again make sure you using the proper bit either 32bit or 64bit. Now if these files are in their folders as they should be, make sure the path is set in X2 like this!
Open X2 and then under the UTILITIES tab, select Cake walk plug-in manager. In the VST Configuration box, select SCAN FOR PLUGINS.
After its done scanning, go to the Plug-in Categories box to the left, select VST INSTRUMENTS (VSTi) and check to see if EZ drummer is listed there.
If it is not then X2 cannot find your .DLL files. DO THIS-> go to the VST configuration box again, select OPTIONS and manually ADD the folder path to the .DLL files, make sure to add both your progem files path and program files (x86) path, and then rescan! Sometimes you have to add the file path in X2, because its stupid, but your smart, I hope this helps, if it doesnt, Im willing to speak with you over the phone to get you where you need to be. Send me an email at bigjguitar@gmail.com and Ill get with you bro, no one shoud be without the sounds of EZ drummer!

Im a fan of the ” I dont care” as well. I was in the same boat as you brother, all this music and no drummer. Toontrack fixed that. I think your recording sounds great, you should give yourself more credit, Ive heard way worse!
lol yes, there IS alot of metal in here, I love driving my follow toontackers here crazy when I use metal machine kit for rock songs So keep up the good work bro! I wanna hear some lyrics over this next time

Hey JeeKem, thanks for listening and dont worry about critiquing my songs ever. I always try to impress as best I can but theres always room for improvement! As for the song, the bell type sounds are from Alchemy. I used 2 sounds together to get that sound. I had a hard time trying to
get everything in there. I would agree POP and R&B isnt what it used to be, im very familair with the names you mention. Im no spring chicken myself and im sorry to hear that you delete your stuff. Just becouse I have a larger body of music online doesnt mean its good or that im better
then anyone else. IM NOT FAMOUS, hell I barely have over 200 fans on reverbnation haha! Ive learned to let go, and Im much more happy for it! Some people will like it, some will hate it, but you do have to live with yourself… Think about it this way, if you knew you couldnt fail, what would you do? I say dust off your workstation and write for yourself first and then see if others like it. Being critiqued doesnt mean you failed, IMHO people hear what they want to hear, but in the end I dont have to change shit!

First off you will need an audio interface, there are 2 kinds external and internal (Pci Card). Google audio interface for references. Some are better the others, external or internal doesnt matter as much. This is how you plug your guitar or any instrument into your PC.
I use external because its easyer to get to the inputs ( shhh …) next you will need a DAW, that means Digital audio workstation. Like Cakewalk or Protools, expensive but there are some for free like Rapture or audaicity (yuk) for recording, mixing, mastering. I might also suggest buying the book “Home Recording for Dummies”, lots of great techniques explained simply. As for the toon track drum kits and other stuff, you need to listen to the demos and figure out what your gonna want or need. Of course Metal foundary is a great place to start!
Here are some considerations I think you should think about. You mention that your a guitar player, and you just wanna toss some riffs down for your bandmates. Dont forget you will need to purchase superior drummer first and then get the MF sdx addon. this is a hell of a purchase for someone just wanting to throw some riffs down. In the long run you will have a the best of the best and maybe your drummer will invest ina pad kit and you guys and use MF sdx for great sounding recordings and dare I say ona laptop can be used for live shows =D. In the short term, consider buying EZ drummer with Metal machine and Drum kit from hell addons and then get the midi paks for monster and/or extreme. this will allow you to spend less time worring about building a kit and more time picking drum beats and fills for your riffs.

I agree Juicy, after listening to it on several different systems I dont like the cymbals as much as some of my other works.
Could also be the coversion from 32bit wave form to 16bit MP3.

AGREED! What a great tune you have there. Boom hit the nail on the head, push those drums up and some harmonies will make the girls throw in their bras and panties.
