    Hi All,

    just an update. I did get my kit mostly as I want it. The situation with toontrack is less than perfect that’s a fact. That being said, I played for one of my friends last night and he was blown away. Why can’t Roland build this playability into the kit.. for the price.

    cheers, and thanks,

    Tony

    @drumjack52

    So, I got the midi tracking software snoize. It shows I am getting exactly what SD3 says it’s getting. This is now with the USB cable direct from the TD50x. I have managed to assign my extra pads, however, it seems that when I learn from one pad, even though NONE are touching etc… it can then imprint the learn on another existing instrument I didn’t pick. I find the whole process a complete and utter PITA!. I am feeling old and curmudgeonly.  After 2 hours of thinking I finally had my pads all working, I am done for the day LOL.  It’s really not intuitive the way it works. A better way would be being able to choose on a right click on each drum piece somehow.

    Hi Jack, I mistakenly used Sonoma from pull down list on first post, why I apologised :). The replacement of my old Motu is a need, and a lot cheaper than a Motu :). I’ve had intermittent issues with OSX seeing my Motu, so, I’m eliminating that entirely to save myself issues going forward, in other words I should have done it before :). I’ll keep you posted as I test tomorrow and Thursday if needed too.

    After considering the age of my MOTU, I am replacing it with something modern Miditech MIT-00151 Midiface 4×4 Midi Interface. In addition I have a 14foot 9 inch USB cable that proports to be for midi instruments, that is just below the USB  2.0 max length spec. It’s a shielded cable so.. we’ll see. Once I have tried it, hopefully it will do the business, I would prefer to direct connect the TD50x.

    Hi Jack, Thanks for the reply!,

    First of all, sorry, I am on Ventura, not Sonoma :=/. Anyway, the MOTU is actually on mains power, it’s an earlier version of the Express XT USB. Clockworks works ok with it, and I upgraded the firmware flashrom sometime ago then forced OSX to allow it with the newer drivers :). Can’t move the desk closer and setup dictates it be where everything is. Distance is just too far to allow USB. I am running SD3 standalone at the moment and I will be eventually getting into either Studio One Pro 6.5 or Logic Pro X.

    I’ll see if there is a way to check what the edrums are sending another way, but as I said, it seems correct on most of the kit. Just the digital bits seem to have caused issues. I am considering doing what someone else said, which is to manually edit the TD50x to match the expected midi notes in the SD3 file.

    Cheers,

    Tony

    I’m almost ready, now that the weather is cooling down at last!, to dive back into SD3. I recently bought a TD50K2 setup 1 extra tom one extra cymbal and a BT-1. I am dying to get that sound again. But I know from experience it’s not a turn it on and use it experience to get the kit sound I want overall. The support now for the new hi-hat is MUCH appreciated, and I only just found out about the bell being off by default.. I miss my Acoustic set sitting in its cases, but I can get more realistic now.
