Hi, I have some experiences about that….yeees 🙂 First of all, I have two VH-12 with a TD-20. I have tried for 3 weeks now to solve this issue, but no. I´m not familiar with VH-13 at all, but as you say I don´t think there are any real big differencies. I have tried to tweek the hi hat curve in superior 2.3.2/The Metal Foundry in the velocity field in the mapping page 1000 of times. I have tried to reset my TD-20 1000 of times so it sends Default triggering messages/MIDI. I have tried to tweek the trigger settings in TD-20 many times. I have updated the TD-20 to 1.09. I have got a specially tweeked velocity curve from Toontrack´s Betatester Damian Blunt. I have tried my other VH-12 which I use for my other Roland kit in our rehearsal room. I have tried all presets in superior 2.3.2 like Roland E-drums, Roland E-drums (generic), GM Extended, E-drums Yamaha etc. Nothing cures the problem! The resolution between closed and open are still very “abrupt”. But keep in mind that superior 2.3.2 has “no hi hat open bow sounds”. The Metal Foundry has 5 different hi hats and none of them with open bow. That means, when you play on the head/bow (which I almost always do) you will hear the Open Edge sound. You can ONLY play and hear the Closed Tip sounds. Yes! That´s true. That is a shame. I have ordered the New York Studio Vol. 2 SDX. I have been told that it has a hi hat that has sampled open bow. So, my conclusion is that the only way to “probably” fix this problem is to install a TDW-20 Expansion Board for my TD-20. It has an option/function called “CC resolution HIGH” for the VH-12. But I would not be surprised if my VH-12s´ still not work in a satisfactory way after installing TDW-20. I will probably buy one and try, and I will come back to you when I have the result. If you are running your VH-13 through a TD-30 I´m sure this CC resolution HIGH should be there for the VH-13. No need for any updates or upgrades I think.
