X-Drum and Velocities

It seems that whenever I try to put an x-drum into my setup, the velocity values in the midi no longer play correctly. For instance, I use the basic kit from DFH, but want to use a ride sound from Metal Machine. After doing this and replacing the default midi map locations, it seems that all my velocities (for every piece in the kit not just the ride) become 127 during playback. I’ve actually gone as far as setting all of my velocities to 0 and they still play as loud as ever. How would I go about correcting this? I am using Reaper with the piano roll.
