Steel drums are going to be impossible to provide MIDI for. It’s a melodic instrument.

Still I’m all in for an Ethnic Percussion SDX.

From memory there are 20-30 notes on the highest range pans, so it’s not impossible, although it might take up a large range of the MIDI. It would probably be best to have a sparate EZX dedicated to them, so several instruments from bass to soprano could be used, and even more than one pan covering each note range (overlapping notes build).

Just wondering, is it possible to get an EZX responding to more than one MIDI channel?

But, definitely some more ethnic percussion, african, indian, oriental, australasian… I’d love TT to provide this.

Yes, an SDX would be even better…

Yes, but it is totally host dependent. The plugin itself has no means to set up MIDI channel response.

Melodic instruments are outside the realm of what EXD and SD are about. Steel drums are a bad fit for this product because they are not functioning in the context of percussion. They are melody.

You might as well ask for a vibraphone or piano SDX. There are other plug-ins that tackle the intracacies of those instruments better than trying to cram them into SD.

    My 2 cents.

Would still love to see an Ethnic/World SDX. No disagreement there.

But there are tonal Kicks in the N1H and Electronics EZXs (from memory) -you choose the tone.

They are still percussion instruments like gongs

A steel drum is a percussion instrument in the same way that a piano is a percussion instrument.
