Hello,
I have a question. I’m looking to broaden my drums library a bit and was looking into a couple of EZX expansions which I believe you can also use in SD3, however I have a bit of a conceirn.
I don’t know this for a fact, but my guess is a couple of the EZX’s are derived from SDX’s.
For example the Indie Folk EZX was recorded (Avast!) at the same studio, features some of the same kits (Rolling bomber for one) and maybe shares other simillarities with the Indiependent SDX (I own). So as it seems, apart from maybe some presets and tweaks, I would be buying the same drum sounds twice.
Now don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a brilliant idea by Toontrack to sort of downgrade the high-end libraries and make them a bit more affordable, maybe throw in a preset or two, however as an owner of the ‘big’ SDX, to me it’s not very clear in which case I’d be buying a ‘reissue’ of something I already own and when I’m buying a completely new set of sounds (For example the cocktail kit EZX, which I’d love to get updated to work with SD3, or the Latin Drums EZX)
Anyone know anything that could shed some light on this?
Cheers,
Guido
Hi,
this question has popped up now and then and apart from that it should be stated on such an EZX:s product page, it might shed some light on it to visit this thread:

Hi, the linked thread linked has been deleted or is no longer working. Is there another source or chart that lists which EZX’s comes from which SDX?
I couldn’t find a list on Toontrack’s site (which is a bit of an oversight), so I went through each EZX and found the corresponding SDX:
Big Band EZX > Decades SDX
Classic Rock EZX > Legacy of Rock SDX
Dark Matter EZX and Death Metal EZX > Death & Darkness SDX
Hard Rock EZX > The Rock Foundry SDX
Indie Folk EZX > Indiependent SDX
Into the Dark EZX > Fields of Rock SDX
Jazz EZX > Roots SDX – Sticks and Roots SDX – Brushes, Rods & Mallets
Metal Machine EZX > Metal Machinery SDX
Metalheads EZX > The Metal Foundry SDX
Nashville EZX > Music City USA SDX
Progressive EZX > The Progressive Foundry SDX
Rock Solid EZX > The Rock Warehouse SDX

Thanked by: Visual DrummerThank you so much for putting this together. Much appreciated. (I agree it’s an oversight!)
