Which Drummodules are best for Ez Drummer /Superior Drummer

Hi,

recently I upgraded my Electronic Kit to newer Pads. Bought myself a set of Pads from Drum-tec from the Diablo Series. It’s amazing how good it feels to play on them. no comparison to my old Roland Pads from my TD4K.

I tested out some newer Drummodules (TD-25 / Ad5) but I didn’t really like any of them very much. That’s why I still use my TD4 Drummodule. My Question now is are there any differences between all the Modules regarding the provided Mididata?

For Example:

Will Superior sound the same no matter which Drummodule I use or do any of the more expensive Modules have a better Detection of Velocitys which are provided from the Triggers in the Pads?
Maybe some of you have already tested that stuff and can share their experiences.

It will “sound” only like Superior how ever with a TD4 module even if you have wonderful Pads you need to understand the toms are all single zone only.
So you may not get all the Performance, also the Hi Hats will be tight,1/4 open,1/2 open 3/4, full open. as like Roland just 4 stage of open which is not bad but it is what it is.
The rest you will not feel or experience any noticeable difference even if you use a TD50.
The TD4 module also doesn’t have much room for expansion to add more cymbals , having said that i used a TD4 quite happily for years with SD2.
Best Value is TD9 its even got one more aux Dual zone input spare than a TD11

Hi,
I agree to juicy that the sound you hear will always be Superior, no matter which module you use.
But I don’t agree to his opinion that you don’t feel any difference between the modules.
I just updated from TD-20 to a TD-30 and the Triggerengine feels much more filigrane. It has more nuances and higher resolution.
I set up both of them the same way and felt the difference, even with my older Rolandpads (PD-105, PD-125).
I haven’t connected my Superior to my TD-30 yet, but I guess that I will be suprised as well.
I was told that the lantency with this newer module is also lower.
I wil check this out in the wintertime when I’m off season and have a lot of time testing all this.

The Issue with the Hihat I realised when I tested my old HiHat Cymbal on another Drummodule in the Store. I also only counted 3 Stages with my Module and I think 5 with the TD-25. Of course all with the same Cymbal and Foot Controller.

I guess I just have to try out another Drummodule and record some Mididata with both of them. Maybe I can borrow a bigger Roland Module and see if there are significant differences of the provided Mididata.

For now I am happy with my 10 Inputs from my TD-4. I use 8 right now cause I haven’t connected my Footcontroller. So I can add one more Crash. If I would upgrade to more Inputs I guess I would shoot for at least 15 Inputs.

Not an opinion.
You’ll hear a difference on the modules sound sure, or Roland would be out of business but that won’t translate into SD2, promise.
127 Velocities is 127 velocities aint nothing can make a difference to them, the nuances come from the SD2 not Roland module . Other then that you have single or dual zones only
If your talking Snare drum and have 3 zones not two then you got one more Zone you’ll hear that. But Dual Zone and 1-127 velocity is on all midi modules the rest is just shop talk imagination .
The latency is in your computer more than inside a module but from td 4 to TD15 some ppl believe to get a snappier response but usually only talking about the Roland internal Sounds.

I had the time and the Opportunity to test the TD-30 Module with my Drumpads and Superior. Played around with it a little and the Stock Sounds of that Module sounded a bit better. And of course the handling with the Faders was also way better than the Mixer on the TD-4 but as you mentioned I didn’t hear a big difference in Superior. To be honest the TD30 had much less Dynamics when it comes to the recorded Midis. Guess that was due the settings. So I think there is no need for an upgrade for me right now.
Now I can focus how to get the Latency down to a Minimun so I can use the TD-4 with Superior/EZ Drummer.
