The “JAZZ” MIDI pack includes 202 groove variations within the 6 song subcategories in its “Bossa” folder. (“Jazz” MIDI pack, not the MIDI from the Jazz EZX library)
The “Latin EZX” library has 4 groove variations in its “ADDITIONAL CAXIXI” folder.
The “Vintage Rock” EZX has 28 groove variations (and 16 fills) under the designation “SLOW BOSSA 128 bpm”.
The “Roots” MIDI pack has 7 groove variations (and 17 fills) under the designation “COPA BOSSA 114bpm”.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Scott E

Do you mean the LATIN PERCUSSION EZX Library?

And yes, I’m also looking for some fine BOSSANOVA beats… Laugh

I’m also looking for this and I have the Latin Percussion EZX. All that seems to be in the ADDITIONAL CAXIXI” folder.are snare/hi-hat fills.Capture-1.JPG

Am I looking in the right place?

Bossa Nova is usually played on drum kit. Although some sparse auxiliary percussion is common. The rhythm of bossa nova is based on a half time samba, so you can set any of the samba patterns in the Latin Percussion EZX to 1/2x and they’ll sound bossa nova if played along with a drum kit bossa nova beat.

Thanks–this is very useful. To clarify, do you mean to use a 1/2X LP EZX samba beat using a kit to get the “drum kit bossa nova beat?” Not sure what you mean “along with.”

I bought the Jazz MIDI this morning specifically to hopefully fill this need, btw.

Yeah, that’s what I mean. For example, have one instance play the bossa nova kit part at 1X (like from the Jazz MIDI) which will match rhythmically with the LP EZX samba parts set to 1/2X.

In the Percussion Ensemble section of the LP EZX, the timbales part is what a kit player plays on the snare drum and the cajon is playing the part a kit player plays on the kick drum. Of course there are variations, but if those two parts basically line up with the snare drum and kick drum part, you know you’ve got it right.

    Simplified:

LP EZX Samba cajon = kick drum part (more or less)
LP EZX Samba timbales = snare / sidestick part (more or less)

    Thanks, sumskilz–this is very helpful.

I did not know that if I set a clip to 1/2 speed in the song track in EZ2, it will stay that way after I drag it into my DAW (Pro Tools). I was under the impression it would default to the BPM of the DAW file. Amazing!

I had a Boss drum machine a couple decades ago that did a much simpler job than all this.
