I have my own very small home recording studio and I’ve been triggering an old cheap drum set when the drummer in my band is here recording. It’s pretty simple to use the hits working with Drumtracker from Toontrack, but when it comes to hi-hats with all different hits, and variations of closed, half open and open it’s not that fun anymore and it takes me hours to go through all those in a song.
So, I’m looking for something (not too expensive of course), that might help me with this. Some good hi-hat trigger or whatever to make things easier.
I was watching a video on Toontrack for Superior drummer and the hi-hat he is using here seems to be great. What is that and how is it working? Probably the most expensive solution?

How are you people recording your live hi-hats?
What module are you using? A decent 2nd hand FD-7 is a good buy if you are using Roland.

I use fd8 pedal which is the current base pedal from roland and really wish I had got an fd7 instead…so like grandaddy said if you can find an fd7 that appears to be a better choice.
The one Nir Z is playing is a hart dynamics one and ye it is quite expensive but from what I’ve read/heard it seems to be one of the best options out there.
I have a converted acoustic to edrum set in my studio which my drummers much prefer to my old regular edrum set but the hi hat pedal response is the area that the drummers find frustrating so if you are going to be getting regular drummer using your kit its probably worth the investment to buy something decent. It is a real pain to have to draw in the response after the fact.
