Is the Evil Drums SDX no longer available for Superior Drummer?
That would be a true shame 🙁 AMAZING sounds…

Gone unfortunately. They dissapeared(the SDX version) from the Platinum Samples Webpage first and I asked Rail and he said they were not going to do another run because of, among other problems, piracy. That seemed strange and I just think it did not work out with Toontrack.
Really too bad as this was the best recorded of the SDX’s in my opinion, Couple that with a real lack of SDX’s in the last two years(I count the Jazz releases as one product) that I have concluded that Superoir will always be the step child with EZ Drummer the real aim. So I am now checking other drum packages after being with Toontrack since Superior One.
daaaaaaaaaamn! that sucks. had a chance to buy it the year before last when it was on sale for 100 bucks. but i missed it =[
I didn’t know about that. I bought the Platinum Samples at half price at one stage, but don’t use it much. I mainly use C&V and none of the other stuff I have. So I don’t really care about yet another SDX, unless it was the kit used in early Dire Straits records.

To each his own. I love C&V myself, but the Evil Drums SDX was splendid. I own BFD2 as well, and all the Platinum Samples stuff is top-notch. A great opportunity missed for TT in my opinion. Since you don’t use it, why don’t you offer to sell it to one of these people who wish they had it?
Cheers.

I guess I could sell Evil Drums, but they are highly rated and maybe next year I find them useful for something. And if I sold them there would be no way of getting them back as it is..
What a loss… that really sucks. I was hoping to see more Platinum or other 3rd party libraries to help fill the painfully long gaps between SDX releases. Now we’re moving backwards. I agree Superior doesn’t seem to get a lot of love.

Rail is a decent kinda guy,his presets in Evil Drums are great too…
I am glad i got that one.
So ironically, this software now would only be available to the pirates? Awesome…..

From what I’ve seen Rail is a great guy. Really helpful, very communicative.
Unfortunately, I hadn’t yet picked up Evil Drums… I never imagined it would be discontinued.

Evil Drums is awesome! I love the SDX!!! I was really hoping there would be more like this library.
I’m still hoping for a Danny Carey(and full kit including electronic pads)/Toontrack collaboration… 🙂

That doesn’t make sense to stop it. All a customer needs is a copy of the DVD(s) and for the supplier to sell them a serial number (I presume it’s authorised in the same manner as other SDXs?).
How does discontinuing it stop the pirates?

My point exactly, I’m betting it was a commercial decision or a competitor that forced a hand…

I think I answered this pretty suscinctly on our forum:
“Unfortunately it’s not worth the cost to manufacture another run… piracy hurt our sales dramatically and it’s not economical to port our other libraries.”
It was a simple economic decision. This library was pirated within a week of release – and despite great reviews on the pirate forums those same folks never actually bought the product.
This was not a downloadable product.. I can’t see paying customers wanting to download 5 dual layer DVD worth of data… although apparently the pirates don’t seem to mind.
Cheers,
