Hello,
Fairly new to this process so forgive my knowledge
I have purchased the Scarlett 8i6 as my audio interface, inputs using Guitar and Mic are fine however I’m struggling to send my Roland Drums (TD17KVX) thru at an acceptable volume when monitoring them on headphones via the focusrite.
I have the drums on a USB sending midi to the DAW (Reaper) using EZ Drummer 2. Works flawlessly apart from the volume being sent to the headphones coming from the Focusrite. When clicking the drum in EZ Drummer the volume is perfect it is just when striking the physical pad on my kit.
Obviously increasing the gain in ED2 or Reaper on the mixer will result in clipping, it is almost as if the Roland is not sending the full signal across. I have checked my pad settings in Reaper playing soft/mid/hard and the midi notes are fine between the range 0-127.
In Reaper i have the Focusrite set as my audio interface .
Also when connecting the module to EZD2 should i be connecting module to audio interface (via midi cable) or as I am currently doing module directly to pc ?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,
James

Hi Ryan,
there is a lot of useful info here, both in this thread and on the Forum.
In short, you can create custom velocity curves in EZD3 and SD3 to adjust for the MIDI coming from your module. Also, if you compare the output from EZD3 or SD3 with mastered music, the latter will of course always be louder.
