The whole TD12 seems to be working ok without me doing much really, and the hi-hat seems to be fine too after some fiddling… I even worked out how to do chokes on my cymbals without too much trouble – everyone seems to have huge problems with that but it just worked for me.
I’m having trouble with getting the “Tight edge” and “Tight bow” sounds to trigger when my foot is down. It seems to be triggering “Closed edge” and “Closed bow”, which although in theory seems right, it just doesnt respond like it should do for me, all those little 16th and 32nd notes just arent working (unless i play seriously lightly on the hi-hat).
Obviously I’ve tried the “Learn” function but it actualy changes the open note aswell as the closed note for some reason (but doesnt change the notes inbetween!)
Thats the only question I have about my program and kit, but I’m also really curious about this TD12 firmware I keep hearing about all over this forum.
Also, I’m sure theres some kind of guide for the perfect settings for your module somewhere isn’t there? I’d be VERY much greatful if someone could point me towards those aswell as the firmware

Hi,
if your TD-12 is set at Factory Settings, selecting the ‘E-drums’ MIDI Preset pretty much sets the whole kit up, hihat triggering and all. There are a few things like the Floor tom rim and the odd crash, IIRC, that needs manual Learning.
If you don’t have it at Factory Settings, consider doing the Firmware update. It makes setting up a little easier. You get readouts of which velocity value is sent, for example if you wish to set up your own curves in S2.

In addition to what John says, make sure you have the latest version of S2.2, navigate to the mapping tab, just above the virtual keyboard you’ll find the MIDI preset dropdown. As well as selecting the ‘edrum’ preset, already mentioned, from the ‘note mapping’ sub-folder look in the ‘pedal correction’ sub folder and try the ‘more closed curve 1’ or ‘more closed curve 2’ presets. I suspect the latter will help you achieve the tightest hat sounds you are looking for.
