Hi,
Today I purchased Superior Drummer 2.0 and now I am currently downloading the Avatar S2.0 Core Library but the download speed is painfully slow.
In the Toontrack Product Manager the download speed shown varies from 30kB/s to 100kB/s and the time remaining ranging between 100 hours and 30 hours respectively.
If I pause the download in the Product Manager and then run the speed test at speedtest.net it shows steady 49Mbps download and 33Mbps upload speeds which is normal for my connection.
I live alone and I am not presently using the Internet for any other high bandwidth use like streaming, gaming or other downloads.
Is there anything you can recommend to get this downloaded faster, an alternate download site perhaps?
Thanks,
Sam
Hi John, or anybody else in Support…
I’m in the process of downloading all of my products to a new Mac system with a clean install of macOS Sierra, and I too am having very long download times via Product Manager (approx 3Mb/s on a FIOS digital connection that I know has much faster download speed capability). I own a lot of Toontrack products – including most of the SDX’s and EZX expansions. Are there any recommendations to improve speeds – or this could take many days?
I love the feedback from Product Manager, and don’t want to interfere with that – but I do also have the .dmgs, and uncompressed files of all my programs and libraries for my products (loaded from about 2 years ago) on a separate SSD. Is there a way I can get Product Manager to recognize those files as already downloaded so I can Install/Authorize/Update what’s needed on my new system without having to go through the whole download process. Again, I would want Product Manager to be able to keep track of my products for me.
Thanks for your help.
David
Hi,
when it comes to the plugins for Superior 2, EZdrummer 2, EZkeys or EZmix 2, it is not recommended that you use old installers.
SDX:s can be copied from the old hard drive to your new hard drive.
EZX:s and MIDI is best re-downloaded and re-installed but you could always try to install them using your old installers and then launch the Product Manager to see the available updates for them.

When Product Manager starts a download, it first checks in its download folder (configurable) if a file already exists with that name and if so verifies if the contents match what is on the server (using checksums). If everything matches, no downloading is needed and Product Manager will recognize the file as downloaded, otherwise it will start downloading (overwriting the existing file). This means you need the original uncompressed files (with same version and same filename) to be able to bypass downloading. Hope this helps.

I have the same issue today. I have very good connection but the Product Manager’s download speed is just 1% of my connection speed. I tried to grab the direct link to download but it has direct links for every other product except for Avatar 2.0 core which is about 20 GB. If I get the link and if the file is hosted with a decent CDN then I could employ a better download manger to pull it down faster. At the moment it shows 50 hrs etc. Not sure what to do.
Hi,
I have the same issue with the download speed of 0.5kb/s at the moment. Trying to finish downloading Avatar S2.0 core library, but it will take a hundred hours to finish. My connection should be able to handle downloading at 50mb/s according to speedtest.net, but is this because I live in South Korea and the file sources are located in a very remote server? I’d appreciate it if I can get a mail from the support team too.
Thanks,
Sungwan

Having the same problem with painfully slow download. Suggestions are welcomed….Two hours plus to download 2.2 gigs of the 19.6G file. I remember having this problem when I tried the first time in 2012. Just getting back to having a use for it….

Hi,
2012 there were no SDX:s available for download, so I guess you are referring to the web teaser. The Product Manager was pretty recently introduced.
So far pretty much every case with slow download has simply been resolved by trying the next day.

Hey John,
Thanks for the reply. My memory is a little fuzzy for 2012. 🙂 I think the difficulty I remember was from a web download. The download manager is pretty helpful. One quick additional question if I may. After completing all the updates and installs I noticed a section that says “free up disk space”. The amount of disk space, 19.6G, is the size of the Avatar core library. Can you comment on this? I’m reluctant remove the two downloads.
Thanks,
Ted H.
If the library is installed and loading correctly, there is no danger in freeing up the disk space.

John

Hi,
Just bought Metal Machinery, and the transfer is very slow. Could you help me?
Hi Jacek,
is it with Toontrack Product Manager only or in general? If you retry today, do you have the same slow connection?

John
