Hello,
I have a 7 piece acoustic drum kit. All pieces including hi-hat, ride, crash, Tom 1-2-3, kick etc are miced to a mixer. I purchased a scarlett 18i20 in order to send all the channels to my pc separately.
what I want to do is to be able to listen to myself with different drum sounds through my headphones. But I don’t want to record.
I saw videos for superior drummer with electronic drum kits where you change the sound of each kit separately.
can I do the same thing with superior drummer 3 with my acoustic drum kit. I will also get a DAW (I guess)
thanks in advance for your time and help
Hi,
real-time triggering of SD3 from your acoustic kit is possible but not without audio-to-midi conversion hardware.
An example (but not an endorsement) would be the DDrum Acoustic Pro Trigger set which is compatible with most drum modules; which you would also need one, preferably one which can be connected directly to your PC via USB-C as its own MIDI interface.
Next, your PC needs to be powerful enough for you to have as small buffer sizes as possible with the Scarlett interface, so you won’t experience latency.
If you were thinking about the included Tracker in SD3, it’s for working with audio files, not real-time conversion.
BR,
John

Thanked by: ozguryasarThank you Mr John. What about Yamaha ead10 module. I read that after Yamaha’s firm update, it is said to trigger the VSTs. Do you have any experience or knowledge about it?
thank you
