Hey Everyone,
I’ve been trying to use a Roland Drum kit with the V-Drums thing to program EZ Drummer for use in Pro Tools.
One of the problems I’ve run into is that the volume for certain drums (mainly snare) fluctuates vastly throughout a song. Is there a way I can fix this? I was thinking maybe adjusting trigger sensitivity or something ? (Don’t know if I have to do that in EZ Drummer or on the V-Drums..)
I’m new to this so any help would be awesome.
Thanks
I was noticing this as well today. If I do some quiet rolls on the snare it seems quiet, then all of a sudden at a certain midi value the volume increases drastically. When it’s quiet, it also sounds like there’s a lot of reverb, so I’m wondering if the snare mic is shutting off at a certain midi value, leaving only the room mics to pic up the snare. Then the snare mic kicks back in at certain midi level. I’ve tried messing with the ‘soft’ velocity control but it doesn’t seem to help.
This sound like your problem as well?
Ah, never mind. Found my problem. I was using a bunch of lo-fi effects on the track which included a noise filter and an enveloper which was messing around with the drum dynamics. Stupid mistake.
EBicks, when you say the volume fluctuates vastly, are the actual midi velocities fluctuating from similar hits on the drum?
