Hi, new to this forum. Posted this to the vdrums.com technical forum resently, would appreciate if anyone at this toontrack site could share their wisdome!
Vs:
Status; I now can trigger EZD2 from my td-9kx2 pads; cable from td9 module/midi-out, connected into midi-in Steinberg, and USB from there into Mac. And hearing EZD sounds from Mac’s headphones Jack. The output latency +- 10 ms depending of the adjusted buffersize (64-128–etc)
Q:
1. Is there a way to bring the triggered sounds to PA /speakers while playing, and how? By using headphones jack line from Mack (cheap sollution?..), R/L from Steinberg to PA (will this work?), or by bringing sounds back to / via td9 module, and further to PA by the td9 main out R/L? If this last option works, will it needs a second midi cable running from Steinberg-out to td9 midi-in? If any other tips on sollutions I would be most grateful, and excuse if I’m totally of track.
2. To play along with music files typical Spotify / youtube, will it only work with a jack splitter for headphones from Mac? I’ve heard It can be difficult running music files from laptops together with f.ex EZD.
3. Reading the td9 manual for setting up the midi trigging is a bit confusing, honestly. Is it possible to explain this in newbie terms?F.ex , do I have to choose the right channel at the td9 module for setting notes (notes?..in the meaning of deciding what pad triggs decired sound?..), so it want mess up the settings I’ve made to the internal module sounds?
My idea in prior is to test the sounds from EZD2 to our bands PA / speakers, and later find out (if it sounds right) how to use it when band gigging and also maybe live. If impossible playing live caused by latency, I must consider buying a new drum modul, I’ve heard that f.ex the 2box drumit five allows importing external sounds. But this is to come, knows to little about it yet. So first of all, testing out the sounds through our PA / speakers.
Had a band rehearsel yesterday, using the Internal td9 sounds direct into PA. Gain/pan ++ basic is good, but the perc sounds is bad, even for practising. Useless for live perf. The bd and cymbals is the better, but toms and especially snare is not good at all. Sounds better in headphones when practising alone though, but somethings happens when sending it out. Even after hours of testing all the settings / equalizing on both the td9 module and our PA. Any experience on this issue?
Thanks in advance if you or others can hjelp me a step further!
Best, Animalz
