Hi,
can I use EZBass (like EZDrummer/SD3 for drums) for live playing a base guitar using EZBass sound changing features and monitoring me playing? Without having to store my playing, just for practicing.
I have a Motu M2 Interface.
Would it work if I …
– plug the bass guitar directly to Motu M2
– direct the sound through EZBass standalone using EZB Modern or Vintage sound library
– listen to my “EZB modified” playing through headphones connected to Motu M2.
Sorry, I hope this is understandable. I am a complete newbee.
Thanks, Kai
Hi,
short answer is: no.
EZbass is not a live input transformer/triggering instrument like Superior Drummer 3 or EZdrummer 3.
If you are playing bass and want to have a software that affects the tone/sound of your playing in real-time, EZmix2 with a Bass Preset would be appropriate.
If you want a software that transforms your bass playing to MIDI, so you may work on the timing and switch between different bass instrument and presets, EZbass can be right for you but this is not done in real-time.

The long answer is YES. I tried it and it works ok. I use Midi Guitar 2 from Jam Origin (https://www.jamorigin.com/) to translate my guitar/bass input into MIDI notes in realtime and I use MIDI Guitar 2 as MIDI input in EZbass. So you need a third party software to convert your audio input to MIDI notes, that’s it.
